The Japanese yakuza films certainly have a well-earned reputation of being violent and chaotic. Some are more frenetic than others and Street Mobster is unbelievable high on savagery and energy. It dawned the re-birth of the genre, telling the story of low-level punks who will do anything without compromise and little sense of honor.

(au) wrote: I hated this movie. Greta Gerwig portrays an annoying, self obsessed, unfriendly character who is absolutely impossible to empathise with. She uses everybody, and shows herself to be so self absorbed that she continually complains about her life's teeny dilemmas to her best friend Alice, and then even goes to talk to her love interest before helping said friend who she thinks has taken heroine. I spent the entire film wondering what the hell she was complaining about in the first place, as she treats everyone who is sincerely nice to her like dirt.DEFINATELY don't recommend.

The first half of the film was brilliant, it was funny, had lots of charm and the cast worked together very well. Unfortunately, I felt it started to lose its way somewhere in the middle, but once it sorted itself out the ending left a smile on my face. A great film that I'd love to see again.

He lives a simple life but land developers try and have him declared incompetent in order to seize his property. It was a cute movie that will make you feel good.

(fr) wrote: Vampire Hunter D takes place in a nightmarish future where vampires dominate the human race. The plot centers on a woman who hires an infamous vampire hunter to slay the creature who bit her. The story, which is about as straightforward as a story can be, is supported by grim and atmospheric animation. While a bit dated, Vampire Hunter D is still a solid pick for fans of Japanese animation.

(jp) wrote: I liked this movie, but it made me feel a bit awkward in spots. But then I think the awkwardness was part of why I liked it.It's kind of like "Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice" in that it's experimenting with the whole issue of monogamy, love and friendship, jealousy, emotional self control, what's open-minded versus what is kind of helplessly cruel. People struggling to balance passion and honesty with empathy and sensitivity. So, I definitely liked it, but in an uncomfortable sort of way.
