Defining street basketball as America's new favorite pastime, it is a story driven by passion, faith, and achieving goals. A story capturing the poetic nature of street basketball, highlighting the struggles endured on and off the court by the purest of athletes. Constantly searching for sanity in the midst of alcoholism, racism, and drugs, John Hogan and Jacob Whitmore, two junior college basketball players, find release and therapy while competing at one of the most competitive and poetic street courts in the U.S. Both men must spend an entire summer helping one another overcome their adversities. Their dedication and love for the game of basketball transcends from the playground courts into each of their dysfunctional households where the two boys play the constant role of the father figure. Heather R (ag) wrote: i like the point that this movie makes about how this doesn't work, but it was all too frustrating to watch it happen.
Gillian M (jp) wrote: Absolute rubbish! Re-watched this to see why I hated it the first time. Wish I hadn't bothered! Acting is terrible! I wanted horrible things to happen to the blonde kid and teacher, two of the worst over actors I've ever seen! One constantly gurns and the other bulges his eyes way too much and screams the name of everyone who dies in a very overly dramatic manner. It is over long, boring and ends terribly!

Lots of fun while still touching on the serious theme of the cult of celebrity. Toronto looks great as a stand in for Chicago - especially the scenes filmed in the architecturally striking Gothic Don Jail.
Rachel M (ca) wrote: i enjoyed the movie. i like Meg Ryan. o dear Meg! you look so great! without you this movie couldn't make any money.
Jonathan V (mx) wrote: This movie, I feel is the true marking point of the death of Matthew Broderick, acting wise. This film is a complete mess. It is unfocused, messy, insulting and just plain horrible. I feel as though Inspector Gadget is a character that can get a respectable film made about him, but not a single joke in this movie will make you even smile. Very young kids will like this, but have them watch it with the babysitter.
Francis M (ag) wrote: Some loose edges in the edit but mostly a very intriguing and different mysterious search for a blackmailer. Enjoyable and a certain touch of black humour that gets forgotten closer to the end.
