Country girl Yu Hong leaves her village, her family and her lover to study in Beijing. At university, she discovers an intense world of sexual freedom and forbidden pleasure. Enraptured, compulsive, she falls madly in love with fellow student Zhou Wei. Was the only Asian film selected to compete for the Palme d'Or in 2006. In September of 2006, director Lou Ye was barred from making movies for five years because the film incorporated footage of the Tiananmen Square demonstrations and wasn't screened for Chinese officials. The Chinese government also demanded that all copies of the film be confiscated

Michael R (br) wrote: Not since X2 has there been such a thoroughly satisfying X-Men film. Days of Future Past has fast paced action, and intriguing plot that with tongue firmly in cheek does it's best to wipe away the lesser quality "memories" of the past. A must see for all X-Men fans.
James P (au) wrote: Zhang Yimou has a penchant for style over substance, but this is the first where two meet head on, combined with a superb performance from Christian Bale, this has the makings of a modern classic.

Vadim D (ru) wrote: I admired the original concept and creative visuals. When many films rely on heavy CGI, it's nice to see a film utilizing other means for its' special effects. I can see kids being dazzled by this fun adventure. Quirky cast adds another layer to this unique tale.

Mad M (nl) wrote: Meh, wasn't really worth finishing. It's a severely watered down prohibition mafia movie.
Kenny N (ag) wrote: A great performance from Cage, and a scary look into a world that's sickening, horrifying, and, worst of all, 100% real.
Jason M (au) wrote: This silly Mike Myers spoof of Sean Connery era James Bond flicks took the world by storm when it was released. It was highly original, funny and had a good flowing plot with tons of non-stop gags. It was a box office success, spawning 2 sequels, one better than the original. This film is not for children as there is much sexual innuendo, despite it based on infantile humour.

So Robin Williams tries to get the company back in the right place since he should be the real owner. Sounds like a good idea, but this just never worked. Ladies Love Cool James really doesn't fit in here. The story just never really comes together and it feels like it was patched together in the final hour.

Donna H (br) wrote: Every element of this film is poor, apart from the beautiful mountains of Rouen. Which are imaginary. I think this film may have begun as a project to explain how much anguish can come from a family being at war. That story could have been set in Rome last week. There is no effort to get to grips with the actual story of Henry Ii's relationship with his wife and sons, and the French king ie why they wanted to wrest lands and power from Henry. With a clearer historical vision, better actors and a decent script, a far better film could have emerged. The bedroom scene at the start with a bare breasted Eleanor negotiating a pact made me think it was a French farce. If they had included some Pythonesque Knights Who Say Ni ("We want........a shrubbery!") I would have awarded another star.
Joshua K (us) wrote: Nonsense. Man talk about a really good beginning, to a mediocre middle, to a ridiculous end. This film goes from new and creepy idea, to uh oh is this going downhill...to dropping you flat on your face wishing that downhill ride would have been more gentle. Let me try to explain better without spoilers. Starts out The Conjuring 2, slowly morphs into Harry Potter, and finishes with...wait did it finish? I wish Cody would dream about thumbs so i could have more than 2 to point downward. I still feel bad for Thomas Jane.
