A time when movies were the only way to watch soap opera- like situations involving flower competitions and going off to war etc...The husband Clem played by Walter Pidgeon provides emotional support to his wife. Teresa Wright plays Carol who becomes infatuated with Mrs. Miniver's oldest son Vin (Richard Ney) whose going off to war. While I love the ending, much of this film is similar to waht one can find from a well made soap opera. Winner of 6 Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director for William Wyler, Best Supporting Actress for Teresa Wright, "Best Actress in A Leading Role for Greer Garson", and "Best screenplay" out of 12 nominations. 3 out of 4 stars
