It is late in the Ceausescu era in Romania, and Cristina is having a difficult time with her boyfriend. He wants her to have sex with him before he goes off to do his obligatory stint in the army. She wants him to marry her first. She also gets involved with a slightly rebellious actor, a would-be ladies' man. He has some vague plans to defect - could those be the reason he is receiving mysterious phone calls? Or are they the work of his anonymous admirer?

(mx) wrote: Miike has come a LONG way from his earlier gore fests. Audtion and Ichi were good movies, but the focus was on the gore. especially Ichi. His last two movies, this and 13 Assassins, he brings the gore, but with more story. Django has TOO much story it seems, but, at times, is beautiful to watch. The action scenes are excellent, the actors do their job well, except for Tarantino who really should stick to directing. I look very much forward to Miike's future endeavors.

His films are often not the most dramatic, but there tends to be unique flavor and wit to them that seem sadle absent here.The flick tries to hide subtle meanings behind all the non-drama, but either hides most of it too well or then is a bit clumsy in the act. This didn't really carry any weight, even for someone who has been in the depicted situation himself.

(it) wrote: The story may sound rather basic on paper, but the likable, engaging characters, immersive, breathtaking animation, and very well-handled comedy ultimately make this movie one of Pixar's greatest masterpieces. Holds a lot of water even to this day.

(au) wrote: I found CB4 to be a very funny and amusing movie. There was a lot to laugh at and the actors gave funny, comedic performances due to what they were given. I also had a good time following MC Gusto and the rest of the crew throughout their careers and I enjoyed the funny Raps they did. The one problem I had was the ending, how it kind of just stopped, but besides that, everything was pretty good. Must See!!
(jp) wrote: While I consider it to be "only" a 9/10, I think Terrorvision is perhaps the most criminally underrated movie of the 20th century. The characters are amazingly well written and acted, each one is a flawless bullet point for a scathing contemporaneous criticism of early 1980s culture, society and politics. The intentionally artificial, TV-show like set design artfully frames the entire movie and makes the absurd unrealistic characters that would be otherwise laughable and easily dismissed become utterly appropriate and enjoyable, each one a gear in a well crafted machine of storytelling and commentary. This is not the so-bad-it's-good 80s horror that so many people dismiss it as, under it's thin veil of comedy it is a plaintive statement on the deterioration of the country and it's people in the 'me' generation perhaps only second to "Poltergeist'.
