(nl) wrote: With a ridiculously wonderful opening reveal, this movie is joyfully entertaining despite the dark, sad turn it takes on in the final act. The whole notion of the apes getting back to 1970s earth is nonsense but oddly that is soon forgotten as the pace, acting and writing serve to carry you happily along for the ride.

(jp) wrote: Nothing sensational but likable characters. Collette hardly looks like herself as a music critic who takes on the assignment of tracking down a lost musician, thought dead, who also happens to be an ex. Decent plot in that regard. Her character is a good writer who has flings with musicians. The great one is thought to have killed himself but people claim to see him. As the magazine is dying, they need a big story and she assigned the task of finding him. Along the way, she meets Haden Church's character. The guy is always a bit off but always somehow charming. It's a great character in this. The big payoff is whether or not she finds the guy. Well, spoiler...she does. It's a great, great scene with Collette stealing the show. After that, it's a pretty standard rom-com/drama of sorts. But it builds to that scene and Collette delivers. That and the likability of the two main characters makes it an enjoyable if relatively thoughtless flick.
