(ag) wrote: top movie!!! showing human feelings in a simply way - giving maybe a voice to a part of everyone of us who plays with the idea of breaking out of everyday life - using every day life pictures though with a perfect touch of a non redundant esthetic.

(kr) wrote: Man, was every piece of equipment in this movie programmed or built terribly or what? The landing pod led to one crew member's death, not surprising considering it was a rolling death trap. There were no sensors to detect a breathable atmosphere. The navigator robot went berserk after a crash it should have been able to withstand (and does kung fu, apparently, in fact, the whole military mode idea was obscenely stupid). And so on. It's really the only reason they were able to have a plot. All this fictional universe's engineers are idiots. As for the occasional "profound" dialogue, much of it is awful. For example, the science vs. philosophy vs. god debate. A lot of people have argued far more convincingly than the token wise old man character did. And many have combined the concepts as well. It pushes an either/or agenda that is rather simplified. God forbid our movies be intelligent. The acting is lazy. You can tell they all phoned this one in for a paycheck. The cinematography is at times striking, but not enough to make this a film to recommend.
