(ag) wrote: Brilliantly done on such a small budget with visual cues taken directly from Blade Runner, this science-fiction philosophical action-film touches all the bases neatly and interestingly.
(es) wrote: A middling premise and a different take on the once common lone-enforcer-on-a-horse western. Substitute the American West for the Canadian West and Mexicans for Russians and there you have it. Unfortunately after an interesting beginning, the film unravels to become a fairly boring, unimaginative and silly endevour. The people of the Yukon territory are given rightful praise in the end credits and it is this beautiful and harsh countryside that reigns above anything that this film has to offer.

In my life it is 10th year anniversary since the day I've watched this story first time... And I still thinking, there something were concealed, I mean for a full understanding something missing...

(ca) wrote: This is like Cronenberg and Miike teaming up to direct Psycho meets In the Realm of the Senses. Quite intense (but not terribly graphic) for 1969. It covers a lot of themes: artistic obsession, sexual power plays, Oedipal relationships, and sadomasochism. Its handling of these topics is a bit simplistic, but what it lacks in depth it makes up for in freakiness. Michio's studio features some of the most delightfully bizarro set design I've ever seen.
(kr) wrote: It's premise is interesting and sets for a lot of potential, but in the end, it ends up becoming a typical clich survival-semi-horror flick that distracts itself from what originally tried to be.
