Robert H (es) wrote: The film picks up right on the heels of Night Watch and delivers more of the same. Where it falters is in the addition of some out of place attempts at humour. They just didn't seem to fit with the style of the films. While there is still rumblings of a third "Watch" film, this sequel does a good job of wrapping up the story. If you enjoyed Night Watch, Day Watch is a fair bet.The resolution of the two films works quite well
Jack G (de) wrote: a half-sensational half-Cassavetes-tinged treatment of a "Parasite" as Matt Zoeller Seitz would say in the realm of Media-Obsessives. It has the same weirdness and psycho-edge of Harron's follow-up, American Psycho, only with a performance that snaps and cracks and pops from Lili Taylor, one of the few times I've seen her leap out of her own skin into someone totally different. It's a tale of an outsider among supposed-outsiders, a bigger nut among bigger nuts that is somehow grounded in a moral complexity.
Austin W (de) wrote: after several masterful godzilla films we come to this descent one. its not the last film in the heisie series so its not too big a deal. it has great monster fighting action, good human characters, and that fantasty element i love but godzilla jr looks like crap and its back to being just plain silly. besides how many types of Godzillas do we need.

Louis Gossett Jr. is one of the most underrated actors in history and he does great work here too. This film could have been released not in the 1990s but in the 1950s or 1960s and might have been better if it was. Still, it is worth seeing.

Matt G (fr) wrote: Gold Rush gives us great gags (chicken suit, destroying pillow), solid performances (Hale is incredibly modern) & soul crushing pathos (New Year's party). Chaplin was always funny, smart, sincere & daring...but he was also just a plain great filmmaker. His camera is bold, making what must've been some revolutionary choices (shooting from behind characters' backs, super wide establishing shots). He told a cinematic story with clarity, intention & skilled pacing unmatched by most, and this is no different.
