Jacob B (kr) wrote: It doesn't quite live up to Chicken Run and Wallace & Gromit, but Flushed Away still manages to serve as a great debut for Aardman into the world of CGI, thanks to visual appeal, great voice acting and humour that will appeal to both kids and adults.

Grant S (de) wrote: Would have been good but for the barbarism. An Englishman, Basil (played by Alan Bates), is en route to Crete wherehe owns a long-disused mine. Along the way he encounters, befriends andemploys Zorba (Anthony Quinn). Once in Crete they set about trying toget the mine operational. Basil is quite risk averse, studious andintroverted while Zorba is extroverted, gregarious, happy-go-lucky andlives life to the fullest. Over time, Zorba's zestfulness starts to ruboff on Basil...Starts slowly but over time the movie starts to accumulate a feel- goodfactor, especially when we see Zorba's antics and Basil start to openup. However, this is all ruined by two acts of sheer barbarism towards theend, both committed by the moronic inhabitants of the village. What'sworse, both these acts are just taken as par for the course, and thereis no ultimate justice for these acts. You could understand theimbecilic villagers feeling that way, but both Basil and Zorba continueas if nothing had happened. What's more, the first case involvessomeone quite dear to Basil. From the point of the first atrocity, the air goes out of the movie andthis is made worse by the second act. There are some lighter moments inthe last few scenes but these can't repair the damage. What should havebeen a light, happy movie, even a comedy of sorts, ends as an unevenstudy in the barbaric customs and thinking of primitive people.

James H (ru) wrote: Betty Hutton and Bing Crosby are terrific in this wartime comedy musical. It's lightweight entertainment and highly enjoyable. Peppy songs, fun performances.

Lorne W (gb) wrote: This is basically Fast and Furious with forgettable characters and a repetitive plot, even the poster design is a carbon copy of a Fast and Furious poster in some way.

Tanner B (es) wrote: Once Upon a Time in America (1984) ????Long, flawed, but brilliant gangster saga detailing Jewish gangster returning to his youth to confront the regrets of his old life. No film has ever captured the complete isolated side of one man and his inner feelings of his friends. Staggering Art-direction, powerhouse performances by De Niro and Woods; several brutally unforgettable scenes. Liabilities: draggy stretches, somewhat perplexing moments, main characters whose motives remain cold throughout the entire film. Even still, Leone, his trusted photographer Tonino Delli Colli, and score composer Ennio Morricone have created an grand film with impeccable vision and two stunning performances. Unlike any other movie ever made; a triumph.

Isadore H (ru) wrote: I really enjoyed signs, it thrilling, suspenseful, and even a good sense of humor. Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix both were excellent in this one, and both child actors did surprisingly well too. There were even a moment or two that genuinely made me tear up, and that's kind of rare
