Denise P (ru) wrote: Filmed with beautiful scenery and elevated by the presence of a sheer all-star cast, August: Osage County is a darkly gripping look at the inner life of dysfunctional families that truly reinvigorates the feel of a stage play with a homey setting, melodious music, quotable lines, congenial set pieces and an abundance of memorable characters which offers its audiences the rare cinematic fun of being able to choose their favorite characters.

CW M (jp) wrote: a somewhat enjoyable doc about a guy seeking to get in touch with his spiritual life through yoga. he pretzels up with california strippers to yogis in india, and everyone in between. interesting, but at the end of the day he's just not a very likeable dude and that definitely brings this one down. the yoga looks AWESOME though.

Jose M (fr) wrote: It still hits very deep. Really power film dramatizing the events that happened on September 11, 2001 as four planes were hijacked. Of the four, one plane, United Airlines Flight 93, passengers went for an all or nothing action. Still, to this day, the scars and wounds are still there. Paul Greengrass's powerful re-creation of the devastating event is both sad, but not without hope to see. I watched in dread, for I knew the ending. However, I felt hope and inspired as ordinary citizens go for the impossible.

Bengel W (mx) wrote: Music lovers will love this teenage hoppy film that is full of gooey American lifestyle. Soppy girly run of the mill formula dribble that one gets tired of and this one is the straw that breaks the camels back. Cinematography is exquisite and the sound is deep and resonant giving this film the few things that make it watchable, almost. Nibbles: Toffee Apple.

Gosia S (jp) wrote: It's an interesting take o the old fairy tale (another one of hallmark's strongest productions of the past, when they did try to make an effort, unlike nowaydays when they, sadly, produce only negligently done drivel). The story rests on a somewhat contrived idea (The Jack Beanstalk curse of greediness.) but one which works for the tale, which becomes a rather sprawling adventure. The film suffers a bit from being way too long -though it triesw to be detailed but sometimes some of those details are not particularly noteworthy- hence it may be somewhat tiresome; there is some really lovely music and the story is pretty fun; The cast is quite strong too. It has good production values, much like Arabian Nights.

Mike S (es) wrote: A nice portrait of three young women who are all waitresses at the pizza parlour in Mystic, Connecticut. One has a boyfriend who wants to get married, but she has cold feet. The youngest falls for the father of a girl she babysits. One is sassy and brassy and is pursued by a spoiled rich kid who got kicked out of law school. It's all formula, but the performances are sincere and entertaining. interestingly, the male characters generally manage to avoid the stereotype and remain decent, honest men.

Van R (fr) wrote: ONLY THE VALIANT is a gritty good western about the U.S. Cavalry with a manpower shortage battling the Indians. Captain Lance (Gregory Peck) and his men capture an elusive Indian warrior that is the equivalent tof Geronimo, but he escapes. The only thing standing between the Army and the redskins is a narrow passage in a chain of mountains. Peck picks the least useful troops and takes them to Fort Invincible, a cavalry fort that faces the mountain gap. Now, Lance and his troops--a real ragtag bunch of misfits--are all the stand between the world and the Indians. Veteran director Gordon Douglas called the shots on this black & white western and it is grim going, with only one joke. The ending is a surprise.A highly underrated oater about a suicide mission in the desert.

robert b (us) wrote: Intriguing at times, heartwarming and life affirming even, however in the end it simply drops the ball. There is little change and development of characters, nothing ever really occurs to drive the progression of self, and when it all ends it leaves you more confused than satisfied. This film focuses on the esoteric nonsense that seems to intrigue wanna be directors who cant seem to find a true theme of their story. Surprisingly at the end its the same as it was through the majority of the movie and it leaves you wishing for some sort of resolution.
