An entertaining romp, Barely Lethal has its moments, but it's a pretty stereotypical teen comedy overall. Still, some of the humor works and the action is kind of fun. But the writing's not that strong, and isn't able to pull off the usual high school tropes without seeming clich. Jackson, Jessica Alba, and Sophie Turner, the film has a fairly good cast. Co-starring Samuel L. Trained from childhood to be a black ops agent for the government, Megan dreams of being a normal teenager and decides to fake her death in order to take a shot a regular life by posing as an exchange student at a suburban high school. Hailee Steinfeld stars as a teenage government assassin in the high school comedy Barely Lethal

The director gets points for his low-grade, omnipresent style as well, from his choices in color to the fluidity of the final product. However, the story, despite being terribly linear, is interesting and keeps things from getting too boring. There's no atmospheric presence of gangsters or doom either, even though the story would indicate otherwise. The characters are insufferable assholes, and if they'd simply mind their own business, this movie would be twenty minutes long. He eventually puts the pieces together in The Last Life in the Universe, but here he's very raw and requires some serious fine-tuning. I can see Pen-ek's potential brimming over in this movie

There are not words to properly describe what a masterpiece of comedy this was and still is!

Did Tony Randall have any idea he would be best known for a TV role when he did those monologues about film's superiority over TV?
