Constant whining & carrying on, oh and the "new" to town family kids sure do make friends really fast. Don't waste any time with this.

Jonathan V (nl) wrote: While the soundtrack leaves much to be desired with the dubbed version's flat--and almost hopeless--voice characterization and overwrought music, the visual atmospherics and the story more than make up for it. I would give it a 7 our of 10, but on a 5-star scale it deserves a 3-star rating. The cinematography and the effects are superb, with the former standing up well over time,k while the latter represent what must have been utterly shocking and even a bit overwhelming for the era of cinema in which they first appeared. The scenario is solid enough to be re-made, and if the visual style can be translated to modern color photography, then a very solid horror film could be made. Just sayin": someone should re-work this and make a small fortune doing it.

Milo C (au) wrote: The movie represents the book poorly. If you want to see an adaptation for this novel, watch the classic 1963 version. This one is just garbage.
Helen E (ca) wrote: I loved the feel of this film..it was very bleak and very British, or rather Scottish. Some brilliant acting and a great screenplay but it was slow going and often monotonous. Didn't stop me from wanting to find out what was going on though, it did have that suspense. It's worth a watch just because its so real and has a very emotional ending but not one that will stay with me.
