Record breaking cliches, amateur acting, and shallow directing, this movie is as one dimensional as it gets

eck it out!. Watched the 1942 re-release version which is shorter, but I think the it plays at a faster speed, not sure if there's any other difference. Highly recommended!- Such a classic film that anyone can enjoy and features some great Chaplin bits such as him eating his shoe and doing the dancing rolls. Such a wonderful film, this should be mandatory viewing for all. A true masterpiece that literally can be enjoyed by anyone, and it's 90yrs old!- Just watched the 1942 version again which is shorter and has narration by Chaplin, as well as a new score. She was even engaged during the not comedic bits of Chaplin trying to get the girl, and was on edge of her seat for the scene where house is on edge of cliff. Was a joy watching with my 5yr old niece and seeing her face light-up for the dancing dinner roll scene. - So easy to re-watch this film. At under 90mins, it goes by very quickly. Such a brilliant film and very easy to re-watch. - Watched yet again with my niece

Recommeneded. Loved the message that everyone has problems all we need is someone to listen to them. Loren Dean is amazing in the lead role as is the rest of the cast. Wonderfully sincere romantic comedy about the wonderful fraility of human nature

A few jumpy moments maybe but that could have been because I had my volume too high. Really awful movie, thought it was going to be more interesting because it is rare to see these movies with a male lead that becomes possessed instead of a little girl but it did nothing for me

This movie is not recommended for the anhedonic, the elderly, and anyone with a stick more than one inch up inside their rectums. This is an admittedly stupid, but highly entertaining movie. Fuck the critics' reviews

To these people, Scrabble is not just a game. I have to wonder how the filmmaker chose their subjects in this documentary. Makes some real insights into the thin line between genius and insanity, and I guess that's what made it somewhat interesting for me

Though the humor can sometimes seem a little archaic from today's standpoint, and Hollywood's common stereotypes are not pleasant to watch (Russians through the unfunny character of Boris and the Chinese get it this time), ninety minutes of witty entertainment is guaranteed with this one. And it is weird (in a good way) to see Marlene Dietrich's diva persona in these surroundings, especially if you know her mostly from Von Sternberg's films. Destry's wise guy persona matches Stewart's acting style from that period perfectly. He completely steals the show with his well written Destry, who shares many of the same characteristics with the character he played for John Ford 25 years later in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. But the real star here is Stewart. George Marshal keeps this material as loose as possible, though he manages to make few nice points about the Old West's confrontation with civilization on the way. When he arrives in town to help his pal, that's when the real party begins. Little did they know that Dimsdale's friend is non other than Jimmy Stewart. Since he has the corrupt mayor wrapped around his finger, they choose to elect the town drunk Washington Dimsdale(Charles Winninger) as the new sheriff, thinking it would e easy to control him. When a sheriff confronts him about the ways he uses to obtain his wealth, Kent kills him in cold blood. George Kent (Brian Donlevy) is the self-named owner of the little town called Bottleneck He runs it with the help of a "towns real owner", the bar singer Frenchy (Marlene Dietrich). James Stewart was in the early stages of his carrier when he stared in this amusing western comedy which benefits from many good aspects, the title definitely not being one of them

Pretty funny film, But I think I laughed at Seth Rogan's scenes more than anything

Gripping as disturbing storyline, blazing martial arts fight sequences and some neat special effects. Brutal, action-packed drama

A powerful look at prison life, A classic. One of the best prison movies of all time. A very good biographical prison film with a triumphant performance from Burt Lancaster in the title role, but the film should have been titled "Birdman of Leavenworth" since that is where he kept his birds and studied their diseases
