Texas

Two Virginians are heading for a new life in Texas when they witness a stagecoach being held up. They decide to rob the robbers and make off with the loot. To escape a posse, they split up and don't see each other again for a long time. When they do meet up again, they find themselves on different sides of the law. This leads to the increasing estrangement of the two men, who once thought of themselves as brothers.

Ethan M (nl) wrote: Another winner from DC! I loved how the focus was mostly on the Suicide Squad with Batman as an almost supporting character. I loved Troy Baker as the Joker, and the dialogue is funny and great. The only problem I have is that during action scenes the audio goes from 10 to 100 and it causes me to have to adjust the volume down instead of focusing on the scene itself. But, that could just be that I have it on Blu-ray. Aside from that, the movie is outstanding. Another feather in the cap for Warner Brothers.

Historically, experimental film and horror haven't mixed well, but this one hits its target, though that target may not be you. I'm always excited to see someone try something new, and when they succeed on their own terms, I'm even more excited. Would have deserved a higher rating, but there seemed to be unintended anachronisms that detracted from the film.

Rick R (gb) wrote: Gorky Park (1983)I was always a big fan of Martin Cruz Smith's mystery novels about the Russian police inspector Arkady Renko. I rushed out to see this movie and was sorely disappointed in it. It's an alright movie, but it really wondered-off from the original book. There's a little too much Reaganesque propaganda in this movie.Three bodies are discovered buried in the snow in Moscow's Gorky Park. Their faces have been removed to hide their identity. Arkady Renko (William Hurt) and his investigative team are on the case. The book is an excellent police procedural, very much like the CSI television series, following various leads while dealing with socialist bureaucracy, and diminished resources, like when their old, beat-up Zhiguli breaks down trying to follow a suspect in a Mercedes. The movie sort of comes off like these guys are ultra paranoid of their government, when in actuality, they're pretty high up on the food chain, and the sinister forces are more the American capitalist, Jack Osborne (perfectly played by Lee Marvin). Sure the police suspect KGB, but there are a lot of other potential suspects to go around including a beautiful girl, Irina Asanova (Joanna Pacula) and even a Russian-speaking American cop William Kirwill (Brian Dennehy) who's investigating a Sable smuggling ring. The audience was really robbed when the movie didn't show Renko going to the U.S. to retrieve his valuable cargo. It was a nice effort for the time, but they really could have done better with this. Still it's worth watching when it comes on TV.

Emmanuel B (nl) wrote: Probably one the films that I watched the most as a kid and a teenager, almost every Sunday, together with "Jeremiah Johnson" and "My name is Nobody". Dustin Hoffman as the anti-hero entering the legend. And don't tell me the guy never existed, he did to me.

David L (ru) wrote: Powerfully acted, emotional and with strong message, Ikiru is a very poignant film, a Japanese classic and one film that everyone should see at some point. Although the third act feels too long, that is probably the only flaw one could find in this film which is really strengthened by its enormously beautiful and poignant quotes which are truly revealing and thought-provoking. Ikiru is a must see masterpiece.

Patrick K (au) wrote: Slow burning road movie centred around Wolf (Jason Mamoa) on the run from authorities after avenging the murder of his mother. Its very much character driven and its a surprisingly engaging film from start to finish, well worth spending 90 minutes watching

Stephen B (fr) wrote: Under no circumstances should you watch this movie!
