Esther P (mx) wrote: I would definitely recommend Midnight in Paris. There are a lot of beautiful street scenes of Paris both during the day and during the night, which gives the movie an overall romantic feel, which is aligned to the main character, a veteran Hollywood writer who is working on his first novel, and is prehoney-mooning in Paris with his fianc and his in-laws. Although they are engaged, his fianc and he do not end up spending too much time together. One night, when he is walking back to his hotel, he is invited to get into a passing car, and soon finds himself embarking on an adventure where he is socializing with famous artists and writers, who ultimately help him, not only with his writing, but also allows him to find out what he really wants. Colorful characters, charm, and romance can be found in Midnight in Paris.
Alanna H (jp) wrote: I wouldn't call it totally enthralling. But it was endearing and adorable in a weird quirky sense. And goodness knows I love the quirky-ness of everything. Kudos to Sook-Yin Lee and her Directorial Debut (at least, I think it is). I loved the plot and the dialogue. It was different and certainly original. Worth a watch, but like I said at first, it wasn't incredibly enthralling, so don't be surprised if it drags on a bit and you get a tad bored. Try and watch it all the way through though ^_^
Ben N (ca) wrote: This film deals with the post-apocalyptic world in an engaging, if nowhere near original manner. The main character is enigmatic but all things are explained in time and unnecessary guess-work is left to a minimum. The acting is convincing and while the story is generic and inane in many ways, the revelation at the end at least makes it interesting, if not good.
