Sparsh D (ag) wrote: Some great performances from Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Viveik Oberio, Konkana Sen Sharma and Deepak Dobriyal. All of them seemed to have stretched out of their comfort zones.Decent adaptation of Shakespeare's "Othello" - good dialogues and music. Unfortunately, leaves the audience upset: tragedy.Impressed with Vishal Bhardwaj's filmmaking. Bollywood could do with more such movies like this.

Anna B (kr) wrote: Trite at times, and the music is just unmentionably bad, but the dialogue is screwball snappy, and the editing is energetic and beautifully timed. The actors are quite good too. Too bad Steers took a nose-dive after this and hasn't made anything of note since.

Rinaldo H (fr) wrote: Poignant with strong imageries and vibrant visual metaphors, Raise the Red Lantern presents feminine power struggle and cultural boundaries within a metaphorical ornate but dull compound of an old family.

Jeff B (fr) wrote: So so movie starring Marie Dressler in her Oscar winning role as Min, a woman who takes care of a young woman she treats as her daughter. When the young woman's drunken mother comes back into town, Dressler tries to keep the two separated. The movie is very short, just over an hour long, and it doesn't give much time to tell much of a story. It feels like we're watch a movie that's missing its beginning, there isn't much Bill in this Min and Bill. Dressler does a nice job, I can't really say whether she deserved to win the Oscar, but it's a not a bad performance. But the movie needed to be longer and have more of a story told.

Erik J (ru) wrote: Eddie Murphy yells his way through a series of scenes to pad out the runtime until the big bloated climax.

Carlos M (it) wrote: Altman's anti-war classic is a delicious satire - irreverent, subversive and downright hilarious -, with a perfect episodic structure for the sort of anti-establishment vibe it aims for and making the most of its compositions (the Last Supper gag is hysterical) and overlapping improvised dialogue.
