The Adventurer

The Adventurer

This inventive, tongue-in-cheek comedy-drama not only reveals the charms of the Estonian countryside, but something of director (Kaljo Kiisk)'s sense of amusement as well. The hero of the title, Toomas Nipernaadi (Tonu Kark) is first seen roaming the rural landscape, going from village to village looking for the woman of his dreams. He wears a bedraggled white suit but generously pays for any lodging he needs or in one case, even buys a farm. Nipernaadi has a way with words and enchants those he meets with his wild stories about himself. Women find him appealing and the men are entertained as he moves from one locale to the next. But his idyll looks like it will end -- at least for awhile -- when his wife shows up in an expensive car and explains exactly what has been going on.

It puts together the perfect story for what people consider to be "The Dream", as it shows the great comeback put together by this team. The movie Hoosiers is a classic example of achieving and living the dream. It covers all aspects of obtaining glory in the realm of sports, from the players, to the coaches, and to the small town fans encouraging them on. In all sports, we see what transpired in this film in order to reach that dream. Players and coaches had to move egos aside to keep the dream alive. That is how you create the winning formula, which is exactly what the Hoosiers did. Their success exploded as they turned their season around, winning game after game. Coach Dale finally starting getting the support he needed, and the Hoosiers started to turn their season around, with the crowning event of the dream; hoisting the trophy in the air. The team did this perfectly by throwing in all the elements of winning "The Dream", knowing that deep inside they had what it took to winThis is a film that will inspire all the athletes out there, young and old, veteran and rookie, and anyone wanting to live the dream. It's not always an easy road, as Coach Dale's team has shown us. This movie solidifies that anything is possible for anyone to achieve, with hard work and a little luck.Hoosiers is a must watch for all ages, maybe inspiring the next underdog athlete to live "The Dream".

Michelle T (us) wrote: Very well acted, thought provoking film with a hopeful message. The lessons and messages were nuanced rather than overplayed or rammed down your throat. Del Toro's performance was fascinating, even as he experienced painful withdrawal. You could read his thoughts with his every nuance. I like seeing Halle Berry in this type of film that shows her acting abilities, and she performed very well.
