The Adventures Of Robin Hood

The Adventures Of Robin Hood

Robin Hood (Errol Flynn) fights nobly for justice against the evil Sir Guy of Gisbourne (Basil Rathbone) while striving to win the hand of the beautiful Maid Marian (Olivia de Havilland).

The film is about a Saxon knight who, in King Richard';;s absence in the Holy Land during the Crusades, fights back as the outlaw leader of a rebel guerrilla army against Prince John and the Norman lords oppressing the Saxon commoners. Sir Robin of Locksley, defender of downtrodden Saxons, runs afoul of Norman authority and is forced to turn outlaw. With his band of Merry Men, he robs from the rich, gives to the poor and still has time to woo the lovely Maid Marian, and foil the cruel Sir Guy of Gisbourne, and keep the nefarious Prince John off the throne. . Jenine B (br) wrote: Watching from 7 to 9PM, then going to crash...pretty good so far.

Dave H (kr) wrote: No classic, and pretty uneven with some flat, weird bits, and the sequel (while sillier) seems more consistent and energetic. But this has a sensational cast (and not just the brat pack leads) which pepper this with lots of great moments. The peyote scene is hilarious. The thing I'll most remember about this movie though is climbing up this really high, precarious ladder on the high, high stairs of the Hoyts Regent marble staircase to change the poster. That was about the only thing about that job I didn't love.

Nate T (ru) wrote: Classic. On Blu-ray.

Logan M (us) wrote: Oliver Stone once again makes an effective film about a true event, and the toll it takes on its characters.
