The Agony and the Ecstasy
Charlton Heston stars as Renaissance artist Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (6 March 1475 – 18 February 1564), who begrudgingly paints the Sistine Chapel for imperious Pope Julius II in this epic adaptation of Irvine Stone's novel directed by Carol Reed. While the novel covers Michelangelo's life from birth to death, the film focuses on the battle of wills between the perfectionist artist and the impatient Pope who commissions (and eventually commands) him to paint the famed chapel.

Too much simple and obvious in some parts, it makes understand things in a way that it's far expected, without waiting the situation of the story develops in a natural way.

(ru) wrote: This is a truly epic film shot in Cinerama, which was a 3 camera process. The scope of the picture is something to behold, absolutely gorgeous cinematography that looks stunning on Blu-ray. Featuring and all-star cast, the film follows several generation of a family as they head West between 1839-1889. Some of the stars are: Jimmy Stewart, John Wayne, Henry Fonda, Gregory Peck, and more. Recommended!

So while it left the artists less to the imagination (the songs themselves already have stories), we are given timeless shorts like Peter and the Wolf, The Martins and the Coys (not available on the current DVD release), Johnny Fedora and Alice Blue Bonnet, and so on and so forth. Wonderfully animated and a joy to watch, Make Mine Music is a wonderful film for Disney fans everywhere.

(it) wrote: Love this movie. Okay, I think it's more than a bit a rehash of The Wedding Singer, but I can excuse that because it's just such fun to watch! I love the Pop song too, even though Hugh Grant probably shouldn't sing. I have to admit after my first rewatch in years, I upgraded this to five stars and got on eBay looking for the soundtrack! Cora is a great character too, I enjoyed her parts. Drew Barrymore need I say more. She does these funny rom com roles so well, and her clothes are beautiful here too. The bit where Hugh's washed up rock star nearly puts his hip out doing his moves on stage gave me a laugh.
