Movie V (ag) wrote: Oh, my. No wonder Sony Pictures Classics isn't doing well financially. If Land Go is typical of the movie projects they are financing and promoting, all I can say is "Is this the best you can do?" Land Ho is a low-key film that's well-scripted and deftly acted, but as a slice-of-life drama it leaves much to be desired. (It makes Trip to Italy seem like a laugh-a-minute funfest.)There's no narrative story arc to speak of. The characters aren't especially interesting -- and Mitch, the horny old man is a boor. Apart from the scenery, there's nothing here to recommend this film as a good way to spend a couple of hours. As Marshall Matt Dillion used to say, "Go one home, folks, there's nothing to see here."

Alex Veadov and Roselyn Sanchez give amazing performances. The script is well written. Mike McCoy did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the action. Act of Valor is a must see.

Mark B (jp) wrote: Brilliant satire. Also a kind of devastating reminder of the way Americans and their allies (including us Aussies) had the wool pulled over their eyes by the Bush administration leading up to the invasion of Iraq.
Gena D (jp) wrote: That was GREAT. Dare I saw better than the original? Well not exactly as without the original you'd miss a lot of the little extras that made it whole. It's like a behind the scenes for the original. ;) I think the only thing that could've possibly added to it would be to hear the owl tell them what twitterpainted was once again. But that's only because it was my favorite part as a child. All-in-all a cute movie that I'm sure Genevieve will love even more when she's older :) If she's anything like her mom the Bambi series will be her favorite movie ;)Edit: watched it again now that she is older and she was completely focused on it. She loved it. Definitely a nice behind the scenes take. Although the initial father son relationship is straining for us adults to watch.

JD (au) wrote: Though this movie had a pretty weak cast, the movie still had a smart script and a decent story. I really wanted to enjoy this movie, but I just couldn't seem to get into it like other people could. I think the reason for that is, is because the movie had some weak actors in it. The lead Timothy Hutton plays the main character Willie and honestly he has got to be the most boring character in this movie, trust he doesn't do anything interesting and he doesn't even give us one joke. Matt Dillon plays the friend Tommy and he also sucked in this movie, again not funny and uninteresting. Noah Emmerich and Michael Rapaport play the other friends Michael and Paul and these two are a little bit better than the two other guys because they do give us some funny dialogue at times, but even they still bored me at times and there performances weren't at all top notch. Now as for the woman they weren't much different Uma Thurman plays a very dry and motionless person in the movie, Rosie O'Donnell plays a loud mouth bitch that you can't stand and Miro Sorvino does try to save the movie with her decent performance but unfortunately she's too small of a character to lift the movie up. I really think what saves this movie big time was Natalie Portman. She plays a thirteen year old little girl in this movie and it's sad to say she is way better than anyone in this movie because her performance was pretty damn good, so I think that's pretty embarrassing for the cast because they all got out staged by a little girl. Now anyways about the story, the story is not half bad, it's about a guy who comes back for his High school reunion and when he comes back he runs into a lot of his old friends and he starts catching up with them and he learns all about what there all going through and learns that they all have big issues. So yeah the story is pretty generic and pretty cliched if you ask me, but it still holds up which is more than I can about some movies. Now the biggest thing that makes this movie not a complete waste of time is probably the script, Scott Rosenberg writes a very clever script with lots of great dialogue and great character development. It's just too bad this movie picked a bad cast to play in this movie, if they would have gotten better actors this movie would have been so much better, but whatever the movie was okay I wouldn't buy it or anything but I could probably watch it again.
