Jillian L (it) wrote: This could have been so good. It really could have. Funny premise, great ensemble cast, all that good stuff. But for some reason, this still falls short. Like I said, the premise is hilarious. The mega-church aspect of society is a really interesting one to explore, and this movie does do a good job of poking fun, while walking the fine line of not truly offending anyone. As mentioned, this is an impressive gathering of actors. Here's the thing; individually, they are all great. Greg Kinnear as the bumbling middle aged born again Christian, Jennifer Connelley as his wife, an ultra Christian. (the part where she said she had a sword, the sword of the spirit, I died.) Pierce Brosnan as the pastor, they were great. But, Jim Gaffigan and Marisa Tomei' characters, although funny in their own right, really, for me, were not needed in the story at all. Basically, this ensemble never really fit together, like they were all puzzle pieces from different puzzles. Then, after awhile, the characters just start to become really annoying. Lastly, it didn't know when and where to end. It just kept spiraling downward, and never really bottomed out, it just kind of stopped. Oh well. In the end, I just wish it could have been better.

Kaleigh R (de) wrote: I wish it was more suspenseful and scary and less chatty and focus on the break-in even though that's what this movie is about, I wish it was changed a little bit

Stuart K (ru) wrote: It is a curious film, but I watched through it. It has some very interesting reflections on life and relationships, and family, and is brutally honest in the best --French film style. I recommend it --especially if you like murder mysteries that are musicals.

James B (mx) wrote: A beautiful film from one of the true masters of modern cinema. A road movie about a Yakuza who is reluctantly assigned the task of helping a boy find his real mother. Kitano has shown that he is an immensely diverse artist on a number of occasions and this time he blends gangster film with bittersweet drama

Markus M (es) wrote: It's surprising how uneventful and boring this film actually is considering it's aimed at little kids. The antics of the Ewoks I'm sure will keep children entertained for a while, but I have my doubts as to an average kid having the attention span to be entertained by this film for the full hour and a half. It's like the people who made it didn't have time to write an actual script so they just penned scenes they could shoot as fast as possible based on the plot synopsis George Lucas probably provided without ever thinking if the scenes formed a meaningful whole together or contributed anything to an overarching plot. Not to mention the narration feels tacked on, and the acting ranges between wooden and terrible, Eric Walker who plays Mace in particular delivering some Troll 2 levels of awful. It doesn't help that his character is mostly unlikable too, constantly whining and berating everybody else even though his doubts are constantly proven wrong and his actual contributions outside of turning down everyone else's advice is minimal. To the film's credit though there are some delightfully 80s puppet and stop-motion monsters, and the Ewoks are a cuddly bunch that are fun to watch, even if their expressionless faces that don't blink, open their mouths, or emote in any way are distracting as hell. At the end of the day the film's perfectly harmless as it's probably entertaining enough for little kids, and a curiosity worth seeing once for grown-up Star Wars fans such as myself. Still, I'd like to think there are better things kids could be watching than this.5,5/10

Scott S (de) wrote: At first I was like wow this is the worst movie I've ever seen but then I sat back and let it roll and the story gets really real real really quick and I quite enjoyed this one.
