Sgt C (ag) wrote: (44%)One of those perfectly fine films that somehow still only amounts to a lot of effort put into a story that by the end simply isn't really worth it. There's at times a TV movie of the week feel to this; although it's a decent quality TV movie with plenty of period detail and a strong leading roles. Gosling's character is a very hard character to get behind, and that's even before he becomes overly shady. There are some twists and turns to the story, and by the end Gosling's character's behaviour is very odd adding some much needed interest, but it just isn't enough to make this a small step up from ordinary and forgettable.

Turned out to be a decent Spaghetti Western with all the traits that make those westerns so great. Fun film though I wasn't a big fan of the finale - broken hands do not make one shoot better.

Jeff Z (ca) wrote: After the genius that is "The Quiet Man" it seems the Wayne team decided to try and but big, boisterous fights in a number of his films and that would be great. Great and perfectly done in character in "The Quiet Man", hamhanded, sloppy and annoying in this, a formula they repeated for "McClintock". Wayne and Capucine actually have some very good scenes together as he tries to bring her back to Alaska for his partner but along the way falls in love with her. But the film is hurt by its poorly done broad comedy (though I did like Wayne's "jealous" scene). Kovacs is miscast and wasted as the bad guy and Fabian's idea of acting is to stare wide eyed all the time. It's almost enough to make you long for Patrick Wayne to replace him. Almost.

Joel A (ag) wrote: A classic vintage chick flick staring Vivian Leigh & Robert Taylor about a newly enlisted soldier who falls in love with a ballerina on the eve of war.Filled with some beautiful shots of London that most likely where shot when the war was actually on.It's beautiful yet doomed love story that will always stand the test of time, gorgeous performances, clever dialogue & timeless romance all on the Waterloo Bridge.
