Panta O (jp) wrote: This is very well made Spanish-American co-production directed by Emilio Aragon about a man (Robert Duvall) and his grandson (Jeremy Irvine). Written by Bill Wittliff, it will please you, or disappoint you - depends what were you expecting. I expected nothing, and I got a warm family action drama which has every possible clich packed in it. And I had to enjoy it, because those clichs were simply adorable! The story of Red Bovie, a old guy who is forced to abandon his ranch and land in Texas, but is refusing to become complacent in his old age was something I really liked. Even when he discovers that he has a grandson, nothing stops him. He hops in his Cadillac, and hightails it to Mexico. They begin a journey with a frenzied stop in a Mexican town where they meet Patty, who sees in them the hope for a better life. Along the way, there are plenty of shady men to keep the adventure going!Robert Duvall is the centre of the movie with his amazing ability to attract with acting skills even in his old age. Every moment is simply filled with him, even when he is not on screen, and I can only thank Emilio Aragn for letting that happen! Enjoyable, entertaining, exceptional acting!

Santino D (au) wrote: On par with the original (I'd probably give the first one 2.5 to 3 stars), though a very different film. What do the two have in common? They're both about corrupt cops. All in all though, I enjoyed the movie. Liotta was standad Liotta, and Shawn Hatosy was pretty good as well. My only gripe is that I figured out who was dirty very quickly, and then the movie made no attempt at all to hid that fact. I usually like a little more of a mystery; more of a guessing game.
Yanti A (it) wrote: this is definitely one of those movies I love to see. family movie with messy characters in it. the story is so simple, it's every days' life of siblings who fucked up in their own ways, and it's a long road short for them to understand each other and try to believe that they have each other's back. everything is so simple, well acted, of course it's Linney, and Ruffalo, and the little Culkin (having the time of his life since he acted since he was so little and he's really cute and amazing). it's so sensitive, I bet it's something that we all can relate to someway somehow.
Jeff L (ca) wrote: It did not have the same charm as the original Macross. I felt the love relationship was very weak. The songs weren't as good. Also, since they kind of use the original Macross as a stepping stone it felt... wrong. The only thing I liked was the VF designs. In my opinion, stick with Macross the original series, Macross: DYRL, Macross Plus and Macross Zero.

Sophia Loren is there for no reason other than to link the assassin to the guy trying to stop him in a weird love triangle. And Robert Vaughn plays a gay officer for some reason. The train heist opening was quite well done, but after that, it was really to boring to want to watch, even with George Kennedy going over George C. Scott's top as patton spouting things like wanting to cram every brick of that gold "up their Red Commie asses!!!"

Final fantasy has spectacular animation that hasn't aged a day and it's as good as any other sci-fi fable ever brought to screen. The film has a serious narrative, an original story and I don't know why it puts people down, may be because of the fact that it is an adaptation of a game. The animation is so good, especially that of the leading character Aki. It's a definite delight for ardent fans of sci-fi genre.

Pablo C (br) wrote: As I try to stay objective looking at this movie, I just can't help but compare it to the 1st one, which is a hundred times better... Everything in thisd movie, EVERY SINGLE THING, may it be the characters (don't even get me started on Malak...) or its shiny/flashy aesthetics will make you feel locked in a 90 minutes long episode of Captain Planet or some generic kid's show of the 80's...
