(mx) wrote: This movie really as cookie cutter as it gets. This is not even a good baseball movie, and it spends tons of times concentrating on the relationship between Costner and Preston instead of the game instead. The movie is also far too long and I could not wait for this to be over.
(it) wrote: Yet another tragic character study from Paul Schrader, full of pessimism and great acting. Probably on par with Light Sleeper.

(au) wrote: Timothy Spall is likely the most underrated actor in the world. At the very least, everyone should see Pierrepont and this wonderful embodiment of J.M.W. Turner which soars above what could have been another pedestrian effort by Mike Leigh. Turner's character is an original..it probably took Spall to make him more interesting than he was in life.
