Six months after the firing, Shakur assaulted the director, resulting in Shakur being found guilty of assault and battery. Shakur did not want to play the role of Sharif, as he did not agree (in regards to the authenticity of such a role) that a Muslim could also be a gangbanger. He is quoted as saying the following in a video interview, "I said okay, cool... fire me from this $100,000 movie, because I ain't goin' play no gangbanger who's a Muslim. There ain't no such thing, I refuse to play parts that don't exist. I will be a young nigga, but will be a real young nigga." -Tupac Shakuri think that this is such a really really sad movie 2 watch but it is such a really powerful drama movie 2 watch its got a great cast throughout this movie......its got good car chases throughout this movie......its got good fight scenes throughout this movie......its got a good soundtrack throughout this movie......i think that this is such a very very very powerful drama movie 2 watch it is such a sad movie 2 watch but it is such an enjoyable movie 2 watch with a great cast throughout this movie....

(nl) wrote: The original horror film spoof. 70% of the jokes fall flat but when the other 30% hit, they hit hard.
(ru) wrote: This Preston Sturges dramedy lacks the sharp wit and crackling dialogue of his best films and never stays consistently compelling, but it has some great moments and a strong central character is Eddie Bracken. Bracken plays Woodrow Truesmith, a discharged Marine too ashamed to return to his hometown until a group of soldiers helps make him a hero constructed of lies. When he returns and faces his mother and his old flame, his conscience struggles to keep up the tall tale and he begins to crumble. Frankly, this becomes the kind of story that isn't funny enough to be a great comedy and isn't emotional enough to be a great drama. Still, there are some treats aside from Bracken. One is Raymond Walburn, who plays the town's current mayor; he's sleazy and loud and hysterically self-centered, and most of the film's laughs come from the scenes he chews up. Another wonderful side character is the poor man elected to organize our hero's reception; he is played by Franklin Pangborn, and we're given a hearty dose of laughs at his expense. This is very minor Sturges, but even his lesser efforts are entertaining and intelligent through and through.

(mx) wrote: Quite a good movie I should say. Its smart and true to what its trying to portray, and is sure to resonate with LAS majors in particular. My only real criticism is that Olsen plays a rather obnoxiously precocious 19-year old, and its to the point of complete implausibility. It should be mentioned that the movie doesn't aim too high, and it completely fulfills its expectations.
