(br) wrote: Wonderly acted and the cinematography is memorable. Compare the awrmth and colour of the tangerine orchard with the bleakness of the land surrounding it. Oscar nominated, superbly acted. It is a striking anti-war film.
(de) wrote: It opens like to be something for the first few glimpses, but then all being left is those trying-to-be big scenes with school project mentality.
(us) wrote: I saw this at this year's TriBeCa film festival. This duo and their music have been special for me ever since I first saw them performing in a random street in Prague. They were promoting their film Once. I saw the film because I liked their music. And it touched me. Seeing the documentary that chronicled the couple of years following their Oscar win made me nostalgic. For their music, for Prague, for the emotions and thoughts I associated with them. So I enjoyed the documentary a lot. But at the same time it shows how fame can disintegrate something that was incomparably special. I almost would have rather kept my memory and feelings associated with them untainted.. if that makes sense..

(gb) wrote: There's so much fodder from the clusterfuck of foreign policy blunders these past eight years that documentarians will have no shortage of material. Still, this documentary manages to be engrossing and informative and accomplish its purpose in highlighting the imprisonment and torture techniques employed by our government post-9/11.

(br) wrote: Despite a well assembled cast and obvious influence from The Abyss, Sphere still lacks some elements that make a good thriller or sci-fi, and ends on a flat note.
