Richard D (es) wrote: A documentary about the Kashmere High School Stage Band. In the early 70's, Conrad Johnson lead the stage band from the Houston high school to world champions and international fame by holding the students to the musical standards expected of professional musicians and by incorporated cutting edge funk arrangements into the band's jazz repertoire. As a result, many of the kids from this severely underprivileged neighborhood ended up avoiding the spiral of poverty and crime that surrounded them. The film follows the genesis of the band, as well as a reunion by many of the original members 35 years later to play a tribute concert to their mentor. The music played by this band is simply incredible. At a time when Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock were considered to be on the cutting edge of jazz with their jazz-funk fusion, this high school band was playing similar material in competitions. A real demonstration of how much influence one man can have when he really tries to help kids.

Ken S (ru) wrote: Better shot than 3, but it's still a total crap-fest. 2 is far and away the best in the series.

Evan J (es) wrote: Very sweet film with great child performances!

Samantha J (ca) wrote: It was ok. I was more interested in the religious story than the acting. I like the actors but they could have been better if it wasn't so emotionless

Ellen M (mx) wrote: Nobody liked this one for some reason. It's one of my faves.

Doug W (mx) wrote: Wasn't sure about this one, and now that I have seen it I'm still not, I've seen the story line and it's been much worse but it couldbe better.

Eric H (br) wrote: Takeshi Kitano is always good in everything I have seen him in. I like how he mixes the most mundane and ordinary moments in life with the stark violence of mobsters. A bit slow at times but still engaging.

Eric E (es) wrote: One of my ALL TIME FAVORITES... It you couldn't get the message out of this movie, then you're probably out of touch with REALITY or perhaps a fan of Sara Palin & the Tea Party. LOL

Luke H (au) wrote: personnal favourite carry on with a bunch of mis-fit sailors helping out on an ocean liner
