Wonderful experience. The man has a very strong talent for storytelling and he does it in a way that has become his style. Kelly who seems to have disappeared a little bit from the movie scenes these past few years, comes back with an interesting project. One can only Hope Mr. Messy, raw and a little unpolished, but what the heck it gives character to a fascinating film. oh wait this is actually really good. . . It's the type of films that ten years later , some nerdy dude like me re-watch it and say . This type of films never do really well at the box office and it's no surprises this one didn't find it's audience at the time. I really enjoyed the film, the many different narratives, the very "David Lynch" type of atmosphere, the camera work is at times exceptional, the cinematography is really good and the cast is used in some very interesting ways. Literally ten years after its release, i finally found a moment to watch the wild child of director Richard Kelly

the film was overall so much fun to watch, and captured so perfectly the essence of berlin under the weimar republic without confining itself to a niche or culturally specific audience. the cinematography was so innovative and exquisite, with the shots composed beautifully. it was amazing how much the actors could emote with just a look or an expression - it was also fun to imagine what they might be saying at points. the story in this film was so simple yet so intriguing, the characters were heart-felt and emotive, even with their scarce use of dialogue. i LOVED this film! it's hands down my favourite film from the 1920s
