Aslyn E (de) wrote: Another goofball comedy playing on tired black/Latino stereotypes and DOA jokes. To give you an idea of the standard it features a policeman called officer Pe'enis and still attempts to get giggles of the shake weight. Characters are unfeasibly dumb just to get the easy laughs. It's also as unfocused as hell flying between flashbacks, skits and musical numbers in jarring fashion. Maybe there's a few decent lines her and there while some of the cameos are funny but ultimately it's a lazy showing. If good black comedy films were food, I'd be a skeleton at this point. It's been way too long.

Al M (au) wrote: One of Wes Craven's lesser films (although still better than the pap he has churned out beginning with Scream), Deadly Blessing concerns an ex-member of a bizarre Amish-like cult and his widow who attempts to live on in the farm community after her husband's strange death. Part Children of the Corn and part Devil's Rain (probably because of Borgnine), Deadly Blessing blends elements from different horror sub-genres to create an entertaining if ultimately flawed film that will most likely delight fans of 80s horror while also making them wish that Craven had put a little more effort into elevating the film to the level of Last House on the Left or The Hill Have Eyes.

The film has great performances and does not shy away from cliche elements such as happy romances. The film takes place in the prior to the Civil War and covers the War and the live of the south after the War. Gone with the Wind is an epic movie, but for me I found it to be so long and was quite ready for it to be movie. The movie represents a different era of film making that I can respect, but cannot say ill be revisiting this one. As Clark Gable himself said, this is a woman's movie, and I might have to agree.
