Walter M (fr) wrote: Reminiscent of early Errol Morris films, "A Man Named Pearl" is an inspiring documentary about topiary gardening and how one man can affect the world around him for the better. And nowhere is that more needed than Bishopville, SC, located between Columbia and Florence, which is in the poorest county of a poor state. The solution comes in the person of Pearl Fryar, son of a sharecropper, and his impressive topiary garden, achieved without any formal training. It's a good thing because then he might have realized what he was doing was impossible. People come in buses to see his garden which brings tourist dollars to the area and in return, he brings his gardens to downtown. All of which at the age of 66 makes him the unlikeliest of sex symbols. Pearl, who happens to be black, is surprised that his best friend is the daughter of a lawyer and a lot of his friends shown are white while all of his neighbors are black. Even though Pearl's hero is Jackie Robinson, who would have thought we would be talking about segregation in the twenty-first century?

Raji K (kr) wrote: After sharing the gold, two rival skaters (Jon Heder and Will Ferrell) fight and embarrass themselves to their country. As a result they are banned from competing as solo artists and are forced to team up in paired skating. The two put their friction aside to compete with the rival brother and sister team (Will Arnett and Amy Poehler). Blades of Glory is a flat movie that features subpar characters, plot arcs that go shallow and is really not funny enough to warrant a good review. The film had a decent premise, but overall fails to really deliver and there are far better Will Ferrell films to watch over this one.

Earl locks his keys inside his car and is reaching in to try to get them when hank stops him and accuses him of trying to steal the car. A bee is flying around them while they are arguing and earl is allergic he gets stung by the bee but accuses hank of police brutality and says he gets beat up by hank. Hank gets sent to prison and when he gets out lands a job as a security guard. While still chasing the guys that shot his partner he is after them when he runs into earl again who ALSO is a security guard and while they can't stand each other they team up and go after the bad guys. I thought Steve zahn and Martin Lawrence team up was great. They worked off each other real well and gave us a bunch of good laughs. It gives us a good story, good laughs and decent action scenes. Dennis Dugan directed this who also directed good comedies like HAPPY GILMORE and BIG DADDY which are two great movies and he continues his great comedy experiences with this fun filled movie. National security is defiantly worth the watch especially for its good action and great laughs and is filled with entertainment.

The tone is quite advanced and complex to benefit the film but the somewhat confusing story gets in the way of the movie being a staple. Though this film is definitely a classic comic book movie that every comic book reader should read.
