John M (br) wrote: Very watchable and entertaining although very unbelievable. I don't think the first act sets up Radcliffe enough to make us believe he's this thoroughly convincing undercover when it's his first time doing so and I wish there would have been a more clear focus on a specific antagonist rather than a couple skinheads to befriend, but Radcliffe is engaging to watch to say the least.

Troy F (br) wrote: Ginger Snaps seems to hit the a lot of the right spots for a good horror creature flick. Dark and twisted, with some surreal elements and dark humour. Two suicidal sisters stick close together, obsessed with death and antagonizing life. The one sister one night gets attacked by a werewolf and starts becoming one. Initially, people think she's just maturing and coming out into the open as she goes from an anti-social to a flirty socialite with the boys. Shit goes haywire as Ginger craves to kill, and only her sister Bridgette can stop her. The film holds up better than you expect thanks to practical effects, and reminded me of The Faculty in tone sort of, expect this one was much darker. While the whole werewolf and finding cure stuff has been done before, I gotta say the two sisters were unique characters who did excellent here. They really do look like shady anti-social types, and what's important is how they go from finding life meaningless to learning to value life and their relationship albeit in the worst way possible! I enjoyed it a good deal.

Tim S (ca) wrote: Poor franchise. Oh, how you're being run into the ground. Curse of the Puppet Master is much of the same as the previous two sequels. More about the good puppets and their good masters with more murders taking place. This time, however, the puppets are murdering again, even their masters. Now does this dramatically improve the series? Nope. Why? Because it's still much of the same horrible one-dimensional characters with nothing to them, save for the puppet master himself. Speaking of which, who is this guy? He isn't the puppet master from the previous films? What happened to the guy who was supposed to take up the old puppet master's mantle that they spent so much time establishing the two previous movies? I guess they thought that starting from scratch would be a good idea. It isn't. This movie is also so cheap-looking, at that's saying a lot about the Full Moon Pictures no budget style. Let's not forget about the antagonists, who are also one-dimensional and horrible people. This is just a tired franchise and they need to stop, but they won't. They want to keep making them over and over again, despite being horrible movies.

Kiko E (de) wrote: Quietly powerful film about a Catholic school in Nazi occupied France. A priest is hiding Jewish boys to protect them from Hitlers wrath under assumed names. The movie tells the friendship of two young boys named Julien and Jean. One Jewish and the other French. Both are masterfully played. There is a memorable scene at a restaurant where French fascists accost an elderly Jewish patron and tell him he isn't welcome. He is told by some German soldiers to continue on with his meal. There were many shades of grey in this terrible war Many French had deep rooted feelings of antisemitism and it was quite common for them to help the Germans round up Jewish people. Hiding or helping Jewish people was considered a high offense and people often paid with their lives. The movie is semi autobiographical. Louis Malle attended the school in the movie during wartime. "Au Revoir Les Enfants" is a joy to watch.

Christopher S (jp) wrote: Very engrossing western epic from director Anthony Mann boasts excellent, bristling performances by Walter Huston (in his final role) and Barbara Stanwyck. Really more of a dark psychological domestic drama set in the Old West than a traditional horse opera, but Mann makes excellent use of the wide open spaces for some extraordinary western imagery. A classic, even if the ending is a bit unsatisfying. Great boisterous score by Franz Waxman.

Quebin A (de) wrote: Very cool movie. Very violent, creepy, and weird. Just the way l like them. Although I like the film, it's something kinda realistic and ending was kinda bad.
