(it) wrote: Exciting and action-packed, Justice League: War re-launches the DC animated universe in the new 52 continuity. The story follows Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Cyborg and Shazam as they come together and join forces to fight off an alien invasion lead by a tyrannical villain Darkseid. Featuring Alan Tudyk, Jason O'Mara, Michelle Monaghan, and Sean Astin, the voice cast is pretty good. However, some of the characters are off-putting; particularly Green Lantern and Victor Stone/Cyborg. Also, the animation is kind of stiff and the coloring is a little stark. Yet the action is fairly well-done, with several impressive fight sequences. Justice League: War has some weaknesses, but it's entertaining and presents an interesting vision.

(us) wrote: awful, inaccurate (EVERYTHING about Lebanon, PA is wrong), boring, terribly acted, apparently every Christian (at at least Catholic) in Lebanon is a bigot and a moron, and truly, this movie just sucked. A train wreck from start to finish. I want my 100 minutes back. UGH.

(ca) wrote: I really liked watching this film, Lynne Ramsey is a great film-maker. Unfortunately, half the time watching this film I spent admiring the direction rather than the narrative.
(kr) wrote: 3/5/2015: I was not a fan. The premise was interesting, but the development of the story and characters was lacking. The only good aspect was Lucy Liu!

(ru) wrote: Denzel Washington turns in a great performance as an untrained investigator getting pulled into a web of lies. Easy's got a lot of bravery, but in the 1940's almost every neighborhood is the wrong side of town for him. In one scene Easy waits on the pier and a strange teenage girl casually starts up a conversation with him, naturally her boyfriend feels threatened and a his buddies almost attack Easy. In another, the cops are willing to blindly convict him of any crime they can find. It's not a surprise that this could happen to a black man in the 40's, it's just that elements of racism towards the lead are rare within a noir film. The visual dynamic is also very weak never playing towards the genre. There's an interesting exploration of the idealized life in his neighborhood and the mad dogs that could take it away from him at any moment. Easy is a homeowner who's friendly with his neighbors. He lives on a quiet, family-friendly street, but he associates with nightmarish people. Don Cheadle is malevolently insane as Easy's old friend, Mouse. Mouse is on Easy's side but there's such a dark intensity Cheadle brings to the movie, that he could shoot anybody at any second. The juxtaposition of these two lifestyles make for an fascinating contrast, more fascinating than the main mystery at hand.Denzel is superb (as per usual) and the sociological views are intriguing enough, but the main story doesn't break enough new ground to be anything amazing.
(au) wrote: Formulaic, but in Winterbottom's capable hands even formula can make for good material. The sexual frankness of the film is the closest thing the director has to a signature and is always welcome in my book. Carlyle gives a stunning performance...and holy shit his best mate is the lead from "Jekyll". I just put two and two together there. The ending is too pat, sure. But until then the dynamic between the leads is so painfully real, and it's hard to begrudge them that respite.

(fr) wrote: Pretty Good = 3.5/5Though I found it hard to watch at times, due to the sick and uneasy feeling it constantly left in my stomach, "Requiem for a Dream" is a very well made, thought provoking film, with some fantastic performances by its cast.
(fr) wrote: An amazingly well crafted thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat, Unthinkable proves to be an immensely powerful movie with amazing performances from the cast, particularly Samuel L. Jackson's character portrayal of H, a brutal interrogator with little remorse for any of his actions committed. A definite must watch for anyone who hasn't. -ACR Recommended & Approved
