The Bridal Path

Based on a novel by Nigel Tranter, The Bridal Path is a light-hearted look at the somewhat unfortunate results that can come of the continued marrying of fairly close cousins in a restricted and remote community. Set in the Hebrides off Scotland, the story tells how Ewan MacEwan leaves the isle of Eorsa in search of the perfect wife, but finally returns to marry Katie.

Where Devils Due had a much larger budget, and was able to go all out in its final act, Deliver I guess wanted to go for more of a quick, gut punch ending that left my jaw dropped for a good minute. Nothing happens for a good whole hour and 20 minutes of the film, but it was entertaining so it never becomes dull. Very much reminded me of a TLC show with a twist. If you like slow burners then this is the film for you!

Jack S (kr) wrote: Does it make a lick of sense? No. Is it important to know why people fight with ass swords? No. Is it a fun movie? Hell to the yes.

James C (ru) wrote: There's so much to say about this movie I could probably write a whole book just deconstructing it, instead I'll just leave you with this quote "I will be dying and so will you, and so will everyone here. That's what I want to explore. We're all hurtling towards death, yet here we are for the moment, alive. Each of us knowing we're going to die, each of us secretly believing we won't " Watch it, it's genius.

Brett B (nl) wrote: A Price/Lee/Cushing/Carradine lineup should be a harbinger of good things, but the film doesn't even come close to living up to its potential. Arnaz is a weak lead, the low budget is in evidence, and the rather inane story offers nothing of distinction.

Mike T (fr) wrote: Lots of thrills and effects, tons of action, a uber new age sci-fi with pulpy storytelling and new age thrills and techno guns. It's not a bad movie and the soundtrack is killer, but I guess people were turned off by the ultra-sleek fun coolness and futurism as these people prefer the more serious, quiet, old school stories and not just sexy epic long megastories like this one, which albeit one of the best cartoon/pulp movies, that's what makes it hard to assign a rating to, because it's just so darn fun that it almost seems too good to be true, and too futuristic and commercial to seem like an excellent movie, even though it is!

Paul D (nl) wrote: This movie is a wannabe Quentin Tarantino movie. It has an odd moment or two of entertainment, but most of the characters were so unlikable that I just had a hard time caring. This is not a movie I would go out of my way to ever watch again.
