Kyle M (kr) wrote: A qualifying entry to the Disney sports hall of fame with uplifting spirits and highlighted performances. This particular sports film has the same spirits that Disney had used a lot and show that they have great tastes on picking worthy stories to share with their added magic. Now focusing on the very good actor Kurt Russell, this is probably his best yet (as far I know). (A)(Full review coming soon)

Johnny T (ca) wrote: Rumble in the Bronx has the explosive escapades that Stallone/Schwarzenegger followers crave - hair-raising free falls, hovercrafts out of control, crazed turf wars, collapsing buildings, gun-happy gangsters and other boy-film staples - plus the kind of oddball comedy and independent spirit usually found only outside the current Hollywood empire. Chan is a true artist of a genre that ordinarily does all it can to avoid art. The fun of Rumble in the Bronx is watching Chan build up one inventive and off-the-wall action scene after another. Like all Jackie Chan films, this one works best as a rousing action film. From beginning to end, Rumble is filled with imaginative and breathtaking stunts (all done by Chan sans stuntman) and a succession of epic fight scenes that are hypnotic, exhilarating, masterfully choreographed and great fun. VERDICT: "High-Quality Stuff" - [Positive Reaction] This is a rating to a movie I view as very entertaining and well made, and definitely worth paying the full price at a theatre to see or own on DVD. It is not perfect, but it is definitely excellent. (Films that are rated 3.5 or 4 stars)

Fran P (kr) wrote: Ultimately, it's a sad movie regardless of the violence and excess masculinity. I'm still at awe that the bloke who played Pete was Charlie Hunnam. I first encountered him in "Nicholas Nickleby," which is also another good movie, but he totally becomes someone else in this film. This is a consistently interesting picture to watch because it is apparent to see the film's change of tone from beginning to end. At first, it seems to glorify violence but somewhere near the middle it changes gears which, I must admit, I didn't expect. I also appreciate how focused this film was regarding the emotional material. I thought it was going to be another movie about soccer fans but it's more than that. It's about friendship, loyalty, family, and choices that can impact one's future. I highly recommend this movie.

Scott J (us) wrote: Our character is looking for a point to his life? Kinda ironic, since it's in a movie that's also looking for a point to its existence. Mr. Malick may paint a pretty picture, but he is a terrible storyteller. This is an extremely pretentious movie, and it plays like a two hour music video.
