Being Swiss myself it just gave me some thrill to go up the mountains an meet these beekeepers. This is truly very insightful and everybody should watch it. A must see for sure!!!

David D (br) wrote: Comparisons to Fargo, Twin Peaks, and even Laura come naturally for this unique and very droll French neo-noir. The story twists and turns intriguingly. The two stars both give great performances. The direction and cinematography are outstanding. My sole complaint is that the subtitles were often difficult to read and I didn't want to miss any of the dialog.

A controversial, eccentric and stylish vision of decadence with nightmarish visuals, extravagant sets and costumes and a rising energy that constantly follows the film, which is one of Ken Russell's most defining works.

This was a movie that would be strictly off-limits to me as a child, but the style and feel of the film is reminiscent of the action movies my friends and I loved before our tenth birthdays. Glover and Gibson both submit wonderful performances, especially Gibson, who plays a complete maniac with a convincingness that was probably more revealing than people realized at the time. His mythical heroism here is fun because it's convincing - the insanity aspect covers for some more farfetched parts of his character. Having to see Gary Busey was the only real negative of this film, together with the idiotic final fight scene.
