JeanPol C (gb) wrote: My opinion-.This very good film was realized by Dito Montiel, I can say that he worked very well his subject by showing us a film from the start or he just transposed his idea to a post-apocalyptic war movie. It must be said that his idea was superbly treated well and that it is only at the end of the film that one really understands the strength he has given and is able to treat with rigor a most dramatic subject And which affects a very large number of soldiers on the post-traumatic sequelae that these wars are reaching to the deepest of the human mind in their situations often dramatic. And many of these warriors of war will suffer today and will suffer for a long time as long as these wars last and man will not cease to destroy the world in which he lives. This film is treated with subtlety, to take us to images of apocalyptic warfare such that the human spirit who has undergone the traumatism feels it in the depths of its mind, confused by all the dramas that awaken in them this fear of a future For it can not be otherwise for many who are more sensitive to all these events created by wars and their disasters. The film follows the story of a soldier deployed in Iraq with his unit, and who is precisely found in a dramatic situation that disturbed him deeply and reached the depths of his mind that will govern later His way of reacting to himself on his return home. From there, his imagination takes possession of his fears and transforms them into a daily nightmare, to end in a dramatic way and one understands the finesse that developed, Adam Simon in his subtle script. A my post-traumatic schizophrenia-related, in any case my description is really the one I felt deep inside of me. We must also note the extraordinary performance of: Shia LaBeouf in the role of: Gabriel Drummer. The realization of Dito Montiel is perfect in every point the scenario is really original and very subtle, we emerge troubled after seeing the film and the outcome of it. The film is processed quite slowly, which may cause some confusion, but the main purpose of the film will be achieved 100%, I recommend it in any case.

Andrew D (au) wrote: This film accurately portrays the reluctance, awkwardness and feelings of compromise that are inevitable when two people with family obligations meet and against their will, begin to fall in love. There's no way this can end happily.

Shaun H (ag) wrote: A thoughtful, poignant final film fom Kurosawa. Madadayo follows "the professor" an ageing yet very child like old fellow which the whole film revolves around, a sweet old man that could pass for your Japanese Grandpa, he is as they say "solid gold" the type of man who cries when he can't find his cat. This is basically a slice of Japanese lifestyle and very, very slow, not a film that would appeal to someone who requires myriad explosions every 5 seconds. But for those who have a larger attention span or are at least are intrested in Japanese lifestyle, this I recomedend. A sad yet uplifting denial of death and a true reflection of Kurosawa's own attitude, or so I have read.
