Tony P (it) wrote: Excruciating espionage film based on the 1974 book of the same name by John Le Carr.It basically follows the hunt for a mole in the British secret service or Mi6.Semi-retired agent George Smiley (excellently portrayed by Gary Oldman, who is made to look about 20 years older) is brought in to hunt down the traitor. The story is set in the bleak London of the seventies and the cinematography excellently portrays this bleak feel. The film is more Spycatcher by Peter Wright (controversial 1980s book) rather than a James Bond action vehicle. The film takes deep concentration in its two hour running time. There are so many suspects that showcase an excellent cast of the cream of British cinema. Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Toby Jones, Mark Strong, John Hurt and last but by no means least Tom Hardy.Apparently this film was originally filmed as a six hour or so drama by the BBC in 1979. I can imagine the six hour running time being sufficient. The two hour running time tries to do to much within its time constraints.I originally purchased this film way back upon Blu-Ray release in 2012. I gave up then after half an hour so was determined to see the film out. However give me Sir Roger Moore in an alpine ski chase falling into the abyss from an Austrian mountain anyday rather than this overrated chirade.

Constana L (mx) wrote: Don't expect to see Chanel most glamorous years, this movie is about her character and life course before reaching Paris most high couture. In the movie, Coco is presented as the most eccentric yet visionary woman of her years. A lovely cinematographic piece.

Byron B (au) wrote: I think I saw this on TCM a few years back. It is also included in The Elia Kazan Collection DVD box set. Scorsese hosts this love letter to the cinematic legacy of Kazan. Elia Kazan started in theatre as an actor and developed into a Broadway director before being called to Hollywood. Scorsese talks personally about growing up and seeing Kazan's movies with characters and locations that were familiar to fellow New Yorker Scorsese. Lots of clips from the films included in the DVD collection are shared. This doc touches upon the House UnAmerican Activities Committee hearings, but is not as much about Kazan's biography as his films influence on Scorsese.

Gareth M (fr) wrote: More of a girlie dance film but still worth a look cos Jessica Alba is fine

RIJUL R (kr) wrote: If ever this game is adapted to a movie then maybe it could beat avatar too !!!!! it's a big budget movie still. it would be like a dream to see it on a big screen.

Sonny T (es) wrote: This movie is what got me started in kenpo karate... The movie is great , and the fight scenes great !!!

RJohn X (br) wrote: Barbara Crampton! Other than that, it is very interesting to see the pre-chain / anchor store hegemony of the American Mall. These were still mom and pop stores, poorly stocked and with terrible signage and even worse carpeting. The Killbots are totally lame even by Corman standards and the crazy eye beams are that great 1980s animation that makes the scenes look scribbled on. Add to that all the 30 year olds playing high school kids and this one wins every time.

Shamith G (ru) wrote: What could have been a irksome tale of vengeance is enhanced by an exquisite detailed writing from the master Tarantino and a splendid performances of the cast particularly Waltz. The climax is the part where this movie actually goes wrong and haywire. Not the best work of QT, but still quite a decent picture

Andriy M (kr) wrote: Nice music, pretty girl, good dynamics. Otherwise it's a romantic/gangster copy of the "Groundhog Day" (1993).
