Mikhail B (br) wrote: The movie captures loneliness and despair of the self-destructing one-night-stand life of a girl from a split family plainly and truthfully played by Ashley Judd. There is no blunt happy end, instead, a hope for the transformation.
Ray D (nl) wrote: Since Paul Auster is one of my favourite authors, it was probably a given that I would love this film....but look closer at that cast: Keitel, Dafoe, Redgrave, Sorvino....this is a haunting meditation on love, sacrifice, and the search for meaning in the world, and well worth the hunt to find it on any format.
Alex r (es) wrote: Richard Harmon's Gotti enthrals with the first frame. Brilliantly acted and directed, especially for a made for TV movie, Gotti is one of the finest made for TV films that I have seen in quite some time. Starring Armand Assante is a standout lead performance; Gotti is a brilliant drama about the Teflon Don, and his rise in the Gambino Crime Family. For a small production, Gotti is a very good film, one that is elevated by an impressive cast of talented actors that really make this a terrific viewing. The story at times is a bit unfocused, but you see glimpses of what makes for an effective gangster movie, if the film would have had a bigger budget, a more ambitious script, then who knows where this film could have gone. The film has its shortcomings, but it overcomes them with a powerful performance from Assante, who is perfect here. Like I said, due to the film's limitations, Gotti relies on the cast to really push the film. The result is an accomplished, and entertaining made for TV movie that is a well crafted affair for those interested in a good low budget gangster picture. Of course, the budget constraints show, but that doesn't stop this from being a worthwhile, well acted picture that is sure to entertain viewers for a pleasant time waster. For what it tries to do, it's one of those films that deserves more praise, and it's also a finely executed made for TV film that is far better than others in the genre. Considering that it's a film that uses minimal elements, it's able to pull off an entertaining two hours and it's a film that ranks among the finest made for TV films. Gotti isn't perfect, but the performances, story, direction and over all execution are what makes this an entertaining genre picture.
Nick A (us) wrote: Terrible. If you ever wanted to watch A.) woody getting kicked in the balls B.) woody going down on Bette Midler in a movie theatre C.) Bette Middler in underwear then this movie is your Koran. Absolutely flatlines from the very beginning and hardly recovers - it gets lost in its completely boring premise. This is probably the worst film Allen has ever been attached to, (yes, worse than "Shadows and Fog"). The only memorable scene is Woody's expression after being castrated by Midler's knee. I kept rewinding it and laughed many times.

Alex K (kr) wrote: A captivating and intriguing film that presents it's ideas upfront and discusses them thoroughly for an hour and a half. A truly well written film where every point is covered in a metaphysical discussion on what it means to live, and both actor do excellent in their roles. I've seen many dialogue based films that would work better as plays, but while watching this it felt like it deserved to be a film, even though at parts I was listening more than I was watching.

Facebook U (fr) wrote: Nicely exposed events following three boys murders in the wood. I have not seen any documentary about this, so this was news to me. In the time allowed for the film, I think the grounds covered showed enough incompetence, bad faith and inconsistencies to throw a whole bucket of doubt in our minds. It is strange that for once, a black man is left alone or never found while he was a material witness if not the culprit in person. So strange that even this seems like a fabrication to me. Maybe even a fabrication to misdirect the investigation. Something that would make sense if the Bojangle blood was not even human and the police knew about it. A trick to quiet the populace. However, the amateurs satanists were an even better target to stick the murder to. Knowing what I know about the englishes, and psychpaths in general, anything is possible. Although the film was not top notch compared to Prisoners, the fact that it is exposing a true story makes it more useful about real-life psychopathy. Now if the case could be solved, we could find the true lessons in it. I mean other than a stunning incompetence by police.
