(es) wrote: Interesting casting against type for BOTH characters. Jay Baruchel's character is the Steve Buscemi type... and Randy Quaid's is the, well... Australian bruiser type. But some good acting and surprisingly poignant (and short) film.
(mx) wrote: An incredible crime/comedy/drama, with great characters and equally great performances, particularly by Farrell and Gleeson, the dialogue is really good, as well as the psyche of the characters and their motivations, the score and the cinematography are also top notch. A great movie overall.
(br) wrote: Sad movie... mainly becuase it is what really happens over there to our boys. Not to mention so great eye candy. lol!
(us) wrote: Very funny and great action. Fast paced and fun plot.
(br) wrote: Wow, this is a rarity: a modern-day film in which the Christians (mostly nuns in this story) are the "good guys" and the New Age advocates are the devil-like "bad guys."Kim Basinger makes an outstanding performance in this supernatural film about a woman's battle to save her beloved niece from an unspeakable evil. There is some very good suspense here, especially at the end and some shocking horror scenes of violence. Good vs Evil, and it's done well for me. And I thought Rufus Sewell's performance as Stark is well acted and convincingly evil. I see Christina Ricci appeared a very small part in this movie.Director Chuck Russell makes a good attempt to throw in horror and chills at the right moments and even throws in some great effects such as the Devil's manifestation in to a throne and even a rolling head for fans of a little gore.
(mx) wrote: The score was awesome. I can see why it won the Oscar for the music. Good movie as well.
(de) wrote: piece of shit, chuck norris kicks every character in the movie besides the bitch that he sleeps with, her son, his brother, and the retarded guy (who might actually have been retarded and was the best actor in the entire movie), and had one of the most hilariously bad final battles (consisting of a kick to the shoulder of the bad guy, and then the freeze-frame of a horse) but looking back, at least it was better than surf nazis must die. alll in all, though, it's still a hilarious piece of shit movie that should never be paid more than a buck for, and at least it's not a total abomination. comes close, though.
(us) wrote: A delightful little gem of a sci-fi film that follows in the tradition of the 1950s b-movie sci-fi, Robison Crusoe on Mars is precisely what its title purports to be: it is Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe reset on Mars with a chimp sidekick, an extraterrestrial (yet still Native-Americanesque) Friday, and an imperialistic alien race that enslaves other races and uses them for mining purposes. Like Defoe's novel, Robinson Crusoe on Mars is not a fast-paced adventure but instead a slow, methodical, and profoundly human exploration of isolation and the human will to survive no matter what the odds. Indeed, Haskin's film explores a variety of profound philosophical question. How does one preserve one's sense of identiy in the absence of others? How does one communicate without language? Can a true relationship exist between human and animal? Do ethics persist in the absence of civilization?
(mx) wrote: Obviously it's total studio-mandated fan service, but it's just as good, possibly better, than the first. The second half is ridiculously entertaining.

(kr) wrote: Tense revenge thriller about a homeless man wanting to kill the man who killed his parents years ago, and is being released from prison. This movie takes lots of twists and turns and is brutally real as we are shown the real meaning of revenge, and its effects.'My father fell in love with your mom, and that is why we all have to die.'The main character Dwight is wonderfully complex; clearly mentally broken from the death of his parents. The other characters aren't as developed but are enough to be what they need to be.Violent, graphic and brutal, and really quite amazing.
