Michael Ironside's "Overdog" still is a creepy.

This metamorphosis occurs halfway through during one of the most shockingly abrupt changes in overall tone I have ever seen, adding a large dose of dark comedy to this touching drama.

I find most modern films to be full of needless, self-serving dialogue that comes off as smarmy and trite. This film does away with modern film convention and goes back to the basis of what a film should be - a purely visual spectacle. This is a moving painting that assumes a certain intelligence in the viewer, in that some interpretation is left to the individual. The brutal silence is a voice of its own, while the exquisite pacing keep the tension and the story drawn tight. This film will find its audience in a select group of viewers that enjoy the artistry of film and in dissecting the multilayered, timeless symbolism.
