Jim H (br) wrote: A lesbian on the rebound begins dating a man and a woman who have, unbeknownst to her, recently broken up.Most of this film clips by at a great pace, and some of Allegra's lines, like "Those who break up with me usually earn my life-long devotion," are quite funny. And the smart dialogue, especially by random strangers on the street a la Annie Hall, is a good reason to like this film. However, though I have no problem that the film eventually degrades into a basic tale about the need for commitment and emotional honesty, I don't think that Allegra emerges as a character who could learn that lesson or one deserving of the film's comic ending. Has she really learned enough, or doesn't life always tell us that we can only truly learn once everything is already gone?Overall, I didn't laugh at this comedy, but a little smile appeared once or twice.
Tomas T (it) wrote: Seven Swords start with a promise of good action ahead, it drops the ball in the middle and comes back with great end action spectacle. Story side is simple enough, evil emperor bans the usage of martial arts in whole China and hires a merciless butcher to up hold his new law promising a hefty sum of gold for every citizens head who dares to break the law. When everything seems lost a mysterious group called the five swords stand up to the brutal general, they recruit few villagers to the cause and we end up with The Seven Swords. Add in a traitor plot twist and you have a script for a bad movie. The script being what it is the movie gives some initial hopes for good action, the arch nemesis army (not the giggling general himself!) seems bad ass to the bone but are unfortunately soon turned into comical face twisters who can barely hold a sword. Towards the end of the movie - the end battle being more specific - the movie generates some lost momentum again. I loved the way the movie gave character to the swords, too bad it was too little too late. Watchable if you have a soft spot for Kungfu flicks, others might want to skip this one.

James M (it) wrote: Set during the Boer war, three lieutenants are given a court martial as scapegoats for their superiors orders. It kind of plays out like an Australian version of Paths Of Glory. Good performances by Edward Woodward & Bryan Brown, but it simply does not compare to Stanley Kubrick's war masterpiece
Chris S (nl) wrote: This is the film that introduced me to the potential greatness of Indian arthouse cinema; I must watch more. It is a commentary on how some great poets get all the acclaim, glory and recognition only when they're dead, how people worship the dead. And boy, those brothers of the hero are sure greedy and selfish jackasses. And you can never deny the goodness of the musical numbers in this film.

Senor C (es) wrote: Although Lundgren is a 3rd rate action star I Come in Peace is actually quite watchable. Sure you could check every action cliche off the list but you could do a lot worse. Matthias Hues runs away w/ this even though his line where this movie derived it's title from is fucking retarded. What the hell does I Come in Peace have to do w/ anything when you're killing everybody? It should have been called Kill Every Mother-Fucker. lol I actually like that title. I should work on a script w/ it even though I'd never get it past the MPAA. Maybe it could be released in the straight to video market. Actually this movies should have been released straight to video but I guess distributors though that Lundgren had some marketing value. I remember going to the show, seeing this poster in the lobby & thinking it would suffer box office death. I wasn't wrong because it was a bomb. Some high end explosive sequences are the saving grace
Aodhan R (ca) wrote: Perhaps one of the weirdest comedies especially for Jim Carrey. He hooks up with co-star Ta Leoni to rob a bank and to steal countless amount of cash to make a living. Carrey and Leoni play couple Dick and Jane Harper, a married couple who are left jobless and out of financial options until they turn money theft. It's a silly movie and utterly plotless as the story of the loving married couple goes absolutely nowhere for the audience to pick up interest and satisfaction.
