Eccleston had the accent, but the hair and costumes just looked silly (he was too old as well). I don't know. Eh. I guess because John's dad left him, he became a total bastard who treated Cynthia like crap and ignored his son? I'm sorry but it was more complicated than that. One standout, as Paul, was Andrew Scott. He's like the British Mark Ruffalo!

Shot against the backdrop of 1970 Brazil and World Cup soccer, there's not much to distinguish it apart from other films like this, except for some nice filming touches. Hamburger spares us the usual and needless heavy-handed sexual fare that characterizes many films in this genre. Many relationships are introduced but most of them don't take hold except for Joelsas' and Piepszyk's characters. Even then it's cut off but for reasons that are explainable and acceptable and not a stretch for the time frame. I think the film tries to bite off more than it can chew and it nets just an okay. I wasn't too sure what to expect from the film and I wasn't pleasantly surprised.

(jp) wrote: While not measuring up to his earlier work, Muni gives gangster Eddie a little extra something in this somewhat hokey movie. Claude Rains is fun as the Devil, alternating from being the harried administrator of Hell, to a slimy manipulator of humankind, to spouting petulantly at his "adversary" before returning to the role of the Underworld's put-upon supervisor. Anne Baxter shows up as a mostly uninteresting love interest too. Film tries to end with a laugh as the music swells, but if any thought is put into it, we realize that it isn't that funny at all. Some nice lighting as Rains hides in the shadows and the music score isn't awful.

The thing that I didn't like about the film was that, one minute DeNiro is hostage and then the next minute Travolta is hostage, which gets a bit ridiculous after a while. The other thing is Travolta appalling attempt of a Serbian accent. Anyway, the director really lost the chance to make a decent movie with these 2 veteran actors. You can tell that there both not giving there all and the Rambo style concept in the woods really didn't work. The movie really did show that both characters couldn't have been that good at kidnapping because they kept on getting away from each other. Anyway, I did have high hopes for the movie because both actors have made some all time classics, but this movie won't go down as one of them.Round-Up:What is going on with Travoltas beard and accent in this movie? Anyway, Travolta hasn't made a decent movie for some time and after seeing his future projects, like the Gummie Bear Movie, I can't see him coming out with anything that good soon. It's a shame, because the man can really act, but he just isn't getting the right movies. He's even starting to pop up in TV series, which is never good for an actors career. As for Robert DeNiro, he just seems to be addicted to working. He seems to be starring in some weird movies like Crossfire and Killer Elite, but he will always be taken seriously in Hollywood. As for both of the stars in this movie, I think that they should just call it a bad day at the office because the takings were appalling and personally, the movie isn't one that I will remember.Budget: N/AWorldwide Gross: $40,000 (Terrible!)I recommend this movie to people who are into there revenge action thrillers about a Serbian war veteran, seeking revenge. 3/10
