. . . A must-see film (now that it is on DVD) both from historical & artistic standpoints, as well as a warning of how close we came to anarchy at a time of rampant political fratricide, the ripples of which we are still suffering from even today (think Clinton/Pelosi/Obama/Carter/etc). This film is non-racist (in comparison to extremely racist fiction like "Turner", that were favorites of terrorists McVey, Franklin, and the murderous thugs of "The Order"), the theme being more "disillusioned patriot" than Marxist, despite the hopes of the leftists. There were 2 other novels released at around the same time ("The Seige" & "Civil War II", one written by the later to be famous "The Executioner/Mack Bolan" author Don Pendelton) both depicting a future where the US Forces are "all-volunteer" and largely Black, where a military coup ensues, basically a patriotic flip-side to the "Spook" storyline (there was also "Barber Shop" speculation these were backed by secret government money to defuse the fallout from "Spook"). This film is still capable of shocking the viewer, once they realize where the plot is going and what could have happened if circumstances had aligned as shown. It was rumored for years that the FBI/CIA obtained all the original prints of this film to keep it out of circulation, but there was one copy that made underground showings, usually at night in local churches nationwide. In fact it is amazing this film was made at all. A testament to the legacy of Director Ivan ("Hogans Heroes") Dixon(RIP), the tough excellent & subversive novel on which it was based was vastly superior to this film version, largely due to budget constraints

n heflin plays Timothy my favourite character one of the best movies, very classic hollywood. . . . . it is as great as the book , although they are quite a few differences but these are small things

es, Marti Domination!. . . Includes Goodyear blimps, bored flight attendants, grapes arrangements, just a dash of vaseline, elegant football-field formations by truly majorettes to die for, and

Not as good as King of Kong, but if you've ever played Tetris, you'll probably get a kick out of it

. . this one is a pretty good sequel, but mainly it's more on the side of watching this for the funniness, outrageousness, and sexiness

Rob Reiner directs another good family drama

The scenes in the woods are of particular note here, for the play of sun and wind are exquisitely rendered and enable the viewer to better imagine Victor's ability to meld with his native environment. Cinematography is beautiful and the varying degrees of light and shadow are well balanced. Performances, particularly from Cargol and Truffaut, are engaging and lend dimensionality to these historically distant characters. Victor escapes only to return again to Itard, and the film ends on an understated yet positive note, suggesting that perhaps Victor is not lost to society. Only toward the end does Itard warm to the child, refusing to see through a cruel experiment in punishment that would have seen Victor unjustly punished and forced to sit in a dark closet. Itard, played by Truffaut, is cold and distant with the boy, treating him more like a social experiment or curiosity than a human being. Jean Itard. Truffaut's film paints an interesting, if simplistic, picture of Victor, the 18th century pre-pubescent 'wild boy of averyron"' discovered in the French countryside who becomes the student of Dr. Feral children pose intriguing questions about the essence of humanity, about our biological essence and our social behavior
