Alexander P (us) wrote: This rough picture flits from mockumentary to weirdness that borders on self-parody. The few glimpses of dark beauty couldn't save a rushed and mediocre thriller.

intuciic (us) wrote: liked this one alot!:) great and sweet romantic movie with beautiful actors! :) also fun!

Ian P (gb) wrote: A humourous Darkman with a shot of Buckaroo Banzai. Zebraman expresses its artistic merit through overly-poor special effects, sporadic plot, a massively "random" amount of strange occurances and meetings. It was filmed with such humour and heart that it was an istant favorite.

Stephen G (au) wrote: An original idea executed with wit, charm, and humor. Classic.

Bryant K (ag) wrote: If I could wipe my ass with this film, I would, but I can do without the DVD cuts for now. No structure, no backstory, just a bunch of shallow characters meddling about for 2 hours. A huge disappointment.

Butt H (us) wrote: It was ok, sorta had a 'Rear Window' kinda thing going.

Thomas K (it) wrote: It is a mystery to me that such a great film is still unavailable in the UK - I saw it on Film Four a few years ago and found it absolutely spellbinding. The story may seem simple - The illegitimate son of a notorious debt collector is trying to make his own way in society and to take revenge for his childhood rejection. What makes this film exceptional is the tight scriptm the broodingand somewhat cool atmosphere, the haunting music and the strong visual style. If you can cope with dutch or German there is a DVD version available in Germany but until the English market catches up with this masterpiece we will have to continue the waiting game...

Scott M (ru) wrote: In the tradition of ROCKY and REQUIEM FOR A HEAVYWEIGHT comes MATILDA (1978), the inspiring story of a pugilistic marsupial from Down Under who's granted one last shot at redemption by stepping into the ring and going a few rounds with the World Heavyweight Boxing Champion ( Larry Pennell ). Old pros Gould and Mitchum add class and a gritty urgency to this rousing, one-of-a-kind experience, so much so that MATILDA remains one of the greatest, most enduring boxing films ever made.

Rosie R (de) wrote: The main character played by Anthony Wong was so funny and at the same time scary. Imagine somebody making hamburgers from his boss and the wife's flesh and sell it to other people!

Ross M (ru) wrote: A recession film! Gotta be required watching in this day and age surely?I've seen better Kaurismaki films though, this didnt have enough cheer to erase the doom and glooms :/

Adrian B (mx) wrote: Spencer Tracy plays a priest in in a mainly sentimental biographical film to where he builds a special school for boys. Mainly goes well, but one boy (Mickey Rooney), tries to derail his plans but causing problems between himself and Tracy and the rest of the school boys. Better than Tracy's performance in "Captains Courageous" in 1937, for which he won Oscar in this and "Boy Towns," but by no means a great film. Pretty soggy and depressing, along with the fault of being dated. I can understand why critics would reject this movie (Dave Kehr did and Leonard Maltin has reservations, which are, as usual, not listed on Rotten Tomatoes).
