Jens S (br) wrote: Meryl Streep stands out in a fantastic cast portraying a pretty dysfunctional family. Between moments of great tension and vileness between the members there are also very touching scenes. The plot has little function than to push those characters into the same room, from there on out it's a pleasure, albeit sometimes painful, to see them rub against each other. The well written interactions remain pretty memorable even days later.

JJ S (jp) wrote: Wow. I'm shocked at the abysmally low rating for this film. I'm not claiming it's in the category of Field of Dreams or The Natural, but Mr. Baseball was just on the north side of "fresh" in my book. Tom Selleck was very good portraying an entitled American sports hero suddenly thrust into the fish out of water plot. The baseball and the situation was actually believable. The second half sunk into predictable plot territory, but I'm not embarassed to say I mildly enjoyed this movie.

Wilson B (ca) wrote: i remember seeing this film when it came out on video. the premise was really interesting and it wasn't a half bad sci-fi film. what sticks in my mind is, the chick from the future, when she vitsits the utopia that is the present, really behaves like somebody going on vacation from the sh!tty reality of the futue world she lives in. she takes every opportunity to drink, smoke, and f&ck Kris Kristoferson. you know, live the high life! it makes the whole movie more credible that her character behaves like a real human being. and the distopian future is interesting in itself even though it is not fleshed out.
