Michael L (ag) wrote: Worth watching for just the domestic abuse scene. Overall this movie is an entertaining piece. Though it has a weak and strange ending which, to me, was quite unlikable. The rest was good. Milla Jovovich did easily the best job in terms of acting.

Tony P (de) wrote: I had to re-watch this great British film from 1996 in readiness for the imminent realease of its sequelsome 20 years on. Glad I did.Now some people will just brush it off as a hard drug film. Glorifying the practice?I would say strongly the opposite. It shows the often devastating social be it mental and/or physical effects substance misuse causes to individuals and their driends and relatives. The film is set in Edinburgh, Scotland and focuses on a central character Mark @rent Boy' Renton (Ewan McGregor) a heroin addict and his collection of friends.'Sick Boy' (Jonny Lee Miller), a fellow addict cum dealer with a penchant for Sean Connery James Bond films!'Begbie' (Robert Carlyle) who has severe aggression issues that result in many a smashed pint glass and 'Spud' (Ewen Bremner) a likeable loser.Renton can continue in the spiral of drug abuse or choose life by breaking free from its grip. Along the way perhaps breaking free from the grip of some of these friends. The movie is a notable for a great 1990's soundtrack that features a segment of Sheffield's very own Heaven 17! I was so mesmorised by the film on first seeing in the cinema back in 1996 and have watched for the first time in years on an old DVD release.Choose life. Simple.

KJ P (ca) wrote: It may not have the best story, which is what the first two bond films benefitted from, but the action is absolutely brilliant and heart-pounding. Bond is at it again, and as he fakes his death in order to sneak into Japan and earn some ninja sidekicks (sounds cheesy I know). On his 'second life,' he must stop a space terrorist from stealing cargo and starting a nuclear war on earth. This film is very farfetched in terms of it's plot, but the execution is far greater than you would expect. A little overlong and a tad too cheesy, "You Only Live Twice" is not one of the better bond films, but it has some of the best actions sequences.
Max M (us) wrote: Dreadfully dull film about an emerald miner (Stuart Granger) who finds both love and conflict with the owner of a nearby coffee plantation, played by Grace Kelly.Neither the action nor the love story are convincing in the least and the theme song is laughable (a rare misstep for the great composer Miklos Rozsa) even for the time the picture was released. I can only imagine what a great director like Howard Hawks would have done with this story.
