The Exiles

The Exiles

For 12 hours one Friday night, from late afternoon until dawn, we follow a handful of urban Indians. Yvonne is pregnant, commenting on her life and dreams as she shops, walks home, cooks dinner, and watches her husband Homer leave with his friends. Homer and his pals go bar hopping, play some poker, and end up, bottles in hand, with other Indians on a hilltop. During the night, the men pick up women, there are fights, there's camaraderie, and Homer reflects on life in the city versus life on the reservation. At dawn, Yvonne watches Hector from a window as he and two pals and two women head somewhere. "Let's do it again tonight," says one.

Dev S (nl) wrote: This documentary is an entertaining look at the West Indies cricket team from the 70s and 80s. I'm not a fan of cricket, but I enjoyed this film. It's really an entertaining and inspirational story of a team of people from different Caribbean nations, putting aside differences, overcoming odds, and making a huge mark on a sport adored by millions of people around the world. I watched it with my parents who are big cricket fans and they enjoyed it a lot as well. I would recommend this film to anyone, but especially to anyone of West Indian decent.

James S (de) wrote: Once a childhood favourite, Austin Powers Goldmember marked the first 'naughty' film that I watched. Whilst it wasn't as comical as I remember, it certainly remains a classic and enjoyable watch. Much of the humor is probably slightly childish, and the story line predictable, although this is to be expected from an Austin Powers film. Mike Myers remains fantastic however, and the film produces many memorable moments and quotes.

Dominic Martin A (kr) wrote: A shaming sequel to one of the greatest Disney princess movies that have ever been made. Don't watch it if you want to preserve the image of the original movie.

John M (nl) wrote: A great film from the great Bob Fosse! With this film and "All That Jazz," Fosse proved what a great director he was, in two absolutely different films. Dustin Hoffman is right on the money in this docudrama that ricochets back and forth through the life of Lenny Bruce. The film features excellent black-and-white cinematography, plus a great script and editing as well. A truly adult film. Recommended for the adventuresome filmgoer.

David S (gb) wrote: Affable enough musical, but overlong, and the central performance by Robert Morse (now of Mad Men) seems much more like a Jerry Lewis impersonation than acting.

Bob R (fr) wrote: The best Joan Crawford performance I've seen yet.

Andrea M (ru) wrote: Wasn't that impressed with it.

Grant T (de) wrote: Ah, this is the kind of movie that makes you believe in things. John Cusack is as amusing as ever and Kate Beckinsale is lovely as usual. Even through its cheesy premise and schmaltzy complications, Serendipity proves to be a beautiful inspiration of faith, fulfillment, and love
