Roxanne R (fr) wrote: I assume by now many are familiar with what has been named The Trial of the Century: the gruesome murder of the Borden couple at Fall Rivers, Massachusetts. The couple had two daughters: Lizzie (C. Ricci) and Emma (Clea Duvall). Lizzie Andrew Borden was tried and acquitted in the 1892 axe murders of her father and stepmother. It is deemed the trial of the century because after her acquittal no one else was charged with the crime but after watching numerous films and reading a few books on the subject, it is my personal opinion that Lizzie Borden indeed murdered her parents out of anger and desperation. I believe she got away with murder. The acting was good, the story does not go in depth about the relationship with the parents but Lizzie stated to her father that she did not wish to be married and he found that objectionable. Overall it is an interesting film to watch, particularly because of the time period and the fact that not a single piece of evidence was linked to her saved her from prison. Mike P (es) wrote: Funny. Right on point with the conversations of immature 16-24 year olds. Tries to capture the struggles of love vs friends vs maturing, which at times is done very well and at other times seems forced. But the comedy and conversations are what make this movie a blast. Like others have said, it's a very quotable movie. If you could turn wiener jokes into sharp wit, Kicking The Dog may have accomplished that.

Miss B (it) wrote: I was afraid this would be an easy clich kind of movie but was happily surprised; given, some parts are borderline clich but definately made it to my list of favorite movies! Very casual tempo, no fireworks nor orchestra; just regular folks dealing with their handicaps. To watch.

Mloy X (gb) wrote: Frank Corvin (Clint Eastwood): This is Jerry O'Neill. Sara Holland (Marcia Gay Harden): No nickname for you? Jerry O'Neill (Donald Sutherland): You can call me [kisses her hand] Jerry O'Neill (Donald Sutherland): anytime. I truly wanted to like this movie especially with the stellar cast behind it but the story was stale and predictable. Some of the actors didn't seem to have their hearts in their individual roles, most of the characters are not really memorable or convincing except for Donald Sutherland, who was really cute and charming as the token "ladies man"-- he definitely needs to do more roles likes that. The next time its on, I think I'll skip it....

Chris C (br) wrote: Funny, charming and inspirational, Shall We Dance delivers a talented well-rounded cast including Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez.

Richard L (ca) wrote: Essentially, it's an anti-epic movie, with a happy-go-lucky underdog bullied by everyone, an atypical love interest to say the least, a clueless princess, an incompetent king and ridiculously clumsy fighters.

Courtney K (ca) wrote: i'm inclined to like this one because it's main focus is about dreams and the subconscious mind; but i must have had troubles following it because it kind of just seemed like a series of disturbing images in between her arguing with her mother. im actually not entirely sure what happened at the end -- it ended with an incredibly, almost awkwardly long stare at the camera before it goes dark.
