Alexandra R (ag) wrote: Are you guys serious? This is a mormon propaganda movie. There's a lot that does not stack up here and the movie clearly was not shot in Russia. There was a witness to their first encounter with Nikolaj; a priest was watching them as they walked towards the apartment 105; they got directions from another guy. Russian police are not dumb. They can follow leads. Furthermore, if you add up all the probabilities, they were unlikely to be shot, even when the kidnappers realized that they were not going to get paid. 4 years for kidnapping is a lot better than life for murder. Could have been a good movie but they had to make out this was "God's plan". The only convincing aspect of the movie was the anguish of the parents and the communal prayer that crossed denominations. Finally, when is Hollywood going to stop using the "backwards R" in the Russian alphabet which actually makes the sound "ya"?

Timothy L (ru) wrote: This is a very good adaptation of Virginia Woolf's novel. It does an excellent job of clarifying the difficulties associated with reading Woolf's book. Here, Redgrave gives an outstanding performance as Clarissa Dalloway. This film illuminates the social themes Woolf carefully examined, especially pointing out the frivolity of Clarissa's parties.
Timothy K (de) wrote: Solid performances, great scenery, and keeps true to the history. There's just something about the flow of the film that is unsettling until midway through.

Dustin P (jp) wrote: Not really sure why this is considered a classic. I like most of Ron Howard's films, but this one was remarkably dull. It wasn't bad, just boring.
Mohd S (mx) wrote: I see the unrated version. It was the first film, ever, to be banned in Sweden! I don't know why they banned this movie (maybe the explicit sex scene). For me, the whole plot of story is quiet interesting. It's about a young woman, muted after a sexual assault as a child, is trained to seek violent revenge on those who have wronged her after being kidnapped and forced to work as a prostitute.
